Freedom! Live From The Freedom of the Seas 8/11-18, 2024

Having trouble with the scale in the movement but I got a possible reading of 0.0 over yesterday. Could not get it read twice to verify but that would be nice if accurate

Lots of aimless wanders led to many steps.

Heading out for my coffee.

Café promenade did better. Drinks were coming quick on a busu sea day, different lady taking orders and she was much friendlier than Oscar.

But they didn't hold the whip cream so still room for improvement.

Small group of us. The D++ and Pinnacle lunch was combined, and there were still only around 25 of us. A guy at my table said that his last cruise on Allure had only four. Had mostly wonderful conversations at the solo table (there were three of us). The one guy was "that guy". You know, the complain about everything guy. We mostly had great conversations though.

The shrimp cocktail was nothing special. It was bigger than an MDR portion and I enjoyed it.

That salmon, oh my gosh it was so good. The blackened seasoning they used was superb and the accompaniments were a generous portion and very well flavored.

The chocolate cake blew me away. That may have been the best melting cake I have ever had. The cake was mostly cooked through, but to achieve the "melting" part, rich, gooey, melted chocolate was poured over top. I dumped the ice cream in and had a rich, delicious, hot treat. Simply devine!

I am going to head off to the casino now and see if she wants to play nice. I started with three "budgets" in mind. A best case scenario budget has already been reached and I am nowhere near where I need to be points wise to even score my plan B cruise choice.

Hey Jam,

Thanks for this.  Any idea who the Hotel Director is?

NJ  😍

Thought today at the officers lunch would be my chance but they did not come around to the tables today. He did give the speech since the captain could not make it and he seemed like a funny guy. Very young too to be in such a senior role. I will swing into guest services to get a name the next time I see a short line or find out from the Concierge if I stop into the lounge this evening.

This is shaping up to be one of my worst casino runs EVER. I can not get anything to hit. We're talking hours and hours and hundreds of $s with no returns of any sort. Just loss after loss.

Guess I'll head to the gym now for a little exercise. May try the walking track since we got some sea breeze to cool things down.

Even with a slight sway, it is a gorgeous day out.

You had that chocolate thingy and you are feeling a little peckish. How can that be? I should have to spend the afternoon lying down to recover.

Good morning everyone from a sea day on the way to (maybe?) Grand Cayman. We have set our clocks back on hour and it is now just after 10AM.

I have been amazed how smooth the ride has been so far. Even though we don't travel very fast to reach the Bahamas, typically at least right off the coast of Florida you can feel the movement.

Nothing, not once, not even a little. For me anyway, I did hear somebody last night commenting that somebody in their group was sea sick again. I won't judge, it always affects me differently and sometime I am fine, and sometimes the slightest movement has me reaching for medicine.

This morning upon standing up I was presented with a new sensation. What's this? I feel the motion. I was starting to forget I was on the water. I am debating taking a pill as a precaution.

Cheers with an Officer is at 11:45. I did not get the paperwork for it so I made a stop at Guest Services last night. I think he wanted to test me as he asked about my day and then asked if it was my first time in Nassau. No sir, if I am asking about Cheers with an Officer this is most definitely not my first time in Nassau 🙂

Our 2nd week in a row without cheers with an officer paperwork.

It is wonderful to be young.

Youngish. I envy the twenty somethings and wish I were still that age.

There was also the approaching food desert when the Windjammer closes. No salad options that i am aware of since there is no park cafe on here.

Maybe that is why so few showed up we all didn't get the invite.

Perhaps the Captain didn’t get one either.

Did about 3.6 miles today 🥵. Used the outsode promenade deck instead of dodging the pool loungers ok the pool deck.

Cooling off with a pina colada and it looks like my bartender must work on Coco Cay.

Just saw Darla and ummm the piano guy walking on the track. I had my head buried in my phone catching up on St.Greg's adventures in Alaska and just gave a courtesy hey when she spoke. Then it clicked who she was I'll have to redeem myself when she laps back around.

No worries at all Jam.  Please don't go to a huge bit of trouble for this.  We will find out soon enough!

So sounds like it is not a very full cruise by the looks of the Who's On Board?  or is it more newbies?

Hugs,

NJ

P.S.  Did they serve vino at the officer lunch?

Wow those numbers are real low. I know the mission is first timers, but surely there has to be some minimum threshold for repeat cruisers. This just seems, bad?

It does not feel like a full cruise. But I couldn't say that it is not full or just feels that way. It's definitely not sailing at 131% like Icon 😆.

Yes, they handed out prosecco and my tablemates ordered wine and diet Coke and no sea pass cards were ever asked for.

Well that's a nice touch.  Sometimes they do not offer any libations a these lunches - depends on the hotel director.

BTW, you are taking some great foody photos!
