Rent Some Fishing Gear and Fish from Shore.

We will be in Alaska in early September and my grandsons would like to fish. We don't want a charter boat, just a chance to pull up a fish or two.

Are there places to rent poles/gear on the docks in the port towns of Juneau, Skagway, or Ketchikan? Would we be likely to catch anything near shore or from piers? We would be doing catch and release. Do we need fishing licenses for a day? Advice?

TIA!

We rented gear at Dolly’s in Ketchikan and fished from the bridge with a bunch of locals. Lots of fish in the water but nothing biting. A license is required and can be bought on line.

As a note I have read that the guy who was renting gear is no longer doing it.
