Teechur Posted August 7 #1 Share Posted August 7 We will be in Alaska in early September and my grandsons would like to fish. We don't want a charter boat, just a chance to pull up a fish or two. Are there places to rent poles/gear on the docks in the port towns of Juneau, Skagway, or Ketchikan? Would we be likely to catch anything near shore or from piers? We would be doing catch and release. Do we need fishing licenses for a day? Advice? TIA!
zqvol Posted August 7 #2 Share Posted August 7 (edited) We rented gear at Dolly’s in Ketchikan and fished from the bridge with a bunch of locals. Lots of fish in the water but nothing biting. A license is required and can be bought on line. As a note I have read that the guy who was renting gear is no longer doing it. Suzanne123 Posted August 9 #3 Share Posted August 9 Chum Fun Charters in Juneau will take you right next to the hatchery, and you can fish from the dock or the shore. https://chumfun.com
