*LIVE* from the Norwegian Encore – 7-Night Alaska and Glacier Bay August 11-18, 2024

Bird...thanks for the review! We're sailing in the Haven on the TA after dry dock.

We're sorry to see Los Lobos go -- we ate there on the Viva in February and it was packed. I was looking forward to more chips!

Was anything said to you about what is happening to the upper level of the Haven Horizon Lounge? I know they are re-doing the DOS to make them three bedrooms and I have a feeling they are going to eat into that upper level.

Have a safe trip home!

I am going to amend my response. They have not offered Al fresco dining since we left Seattle. Too cold this week.

BUT,,, realize that also means no extra capacity in the restaurants. Outside seating often allows the restaurants to take walk ins. No extra capacity and some large groups tying up tables means walk ins will have a harder time, if any.

Loving your review!  this news is disappointing to hear, though...outdoor dining is one of the reasons we have chosen NCL in Alaska over the past two years (and purchase upgrades for more specialty dining)...we bundle up and find that it is very enjoyable at even very cool temps...we have done the Bliss in April and October and really have enjoyed dining outside multiple times on both trips...we have the Bliss again in two weeks and am concerned we will find ourselves cramped into indoor specialty dining spots over the course of the week.  Given the beautiful weather you are having compared to what we have experienced early and late in the season, I am very concerned this may be more than temp related...sigh.  We will enjoy regardless!  TY so much for your live report!

Got an owie? The ship has a fully equipped Medical Center for routine care and emergencies. Doctors and nurses provide service during regular clinic hour or in-room emergency care 24/7.

You must pay your medical bills before leaving the ship. The ship does not accept any insurance.

There was a high amount of respiratory illness this week onboard (people coughing everywhere). The Birds went to an early dinner in Onda and a lady arriving asked to be seated away from everyone else… because she had a bad cough and didn’t want to make anyone else slick… but was still going to have her dinner.

We did not explicitly ask about the upper lounge. It is so small that it is essentially unused.

During dry dock, you can expect that all public areas will be demolished down to the deck plates and rebuilt. All new flooring, tiling, carpets.

O am more curious to see what they do with the sundeck. The newer ships are using more day beds. While comfy, they cut seating in half because couples take 2 beds.

No. They deliver your bag tags and boarding pass to your room on the last day of the cruise. When you arrive at the airport, just head to TSA security.

You leave your bags outside your room on the last night and see them at your home airport.

We crossed the Canadian border on the White Pass railway. Canadian Customs came on the train and methodically scanned each person (even checking bathrooms for stowaways).

Was this the version that goes deeper into Canada with a bus ride back?

Time to do some laundry. The Bird wandered down to Deck 3 to the Laundry room. 265 pound washers. 110 pound dryers. Just like at home.

Guest laundry ready to be returned.
