Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #52 Share Posted August 23 It's the first sea day and the Carnival Hub app was having issues but seemed to resolve itself by the time I finished my shower. I did take pics of the Funtimes just in case anyways. And I'm sure someone wants to see them.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #53 Share Posted August 23 Got a surprise when I opened my door with a letter for the Latin Dinner I reserved. While most of it was what I would expect for information on the event one thing jumped out at me: the date. The date on the letter said it was at 6pm on 09/01/24, a sea day. This was a surprise because I knew when I booked it that it was the same date as Ketchikan. I had uploaded my screenshot and other stuff I grab when I order things before the cruise to my phone so went and checked. Sure enough, it said Monday, August 26. I also went into my planner on the app and sure enough, it was now showing on the first. Honestly, the date change actually works better for me since I don't have to worry about maybe being tired after walking around the port. I'm a little surprised I didn't get a call in my cabin about the date change but at least I some kind of notice. Anyways, I'm finishing up my oatmilk latte with an extra shot outside in the Ocean Plaza. Then I am going to explore this new-to-me ship.

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #56 Share Posted August 23 Took a really nice stroll around the ship and although windy, the temperature is great and the sun is out. Not very many people out at the pool areas but the Ocean Plaza was packed for the trvia. Serenity had a few people chilling up there in both hot tubs and they were prepping salads when I walked through.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #57 Share Posted August 23 (edited) I ended my tour at the Pig and Anchor and they had the BBQ stand open so I got in line for some food there. On the Radiance, this place was very hit or miss on the taste of the food and I'm hoping that's the case here because today's offerings were not good. The coleslaw was soggy, the beef fatty, the chicken bland, and those were the most flavorless greens I have ever had the displeasure to put in my mouth. I didn't even try the mac and cheese since I could tell by looking at it that it was not going to good. So I took myself up to Lido for pizza which has never disappointed yet. Added a Dark and Stormy at the Tides bar and called it lunch. Now I'm getting a Spicy Chipotle Pineapple Martini because why not? Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #58 Share Posted August 23 While on my tour I went through the Cloud 9 Spa and fitness center. The gym was packed and there were several people in the women's locker room's sauna. Nice though that it is available to everyone without the thermal suite pass. I also asked for a spa service sheet to check out. They had a bunch of packages on there and the buy three 75 minute services and get the 4th free caught my eye. I had already purchased two of these online when they had a sale for them that made the cost much more reasonable. I asked if this package would apply if I had purchased 2 online and then did a third here on board and they said it would. So I scheduled a Thai poultice one for today at 4:30 and then a bamboo massage for the 30th as my freebie. This is great because I have not had a massage since June and really need one. I'm going to see if they have any other specials pop up for manicures and/or pedicures since it's also been sometime since I've had one of those.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #59 Share Posted August 23 Talking with Edwin at the Tides bar about how long he's been working and what they'll do at the dry dock. He's only been on this one two months but he's been on quite a few ships and traveled all over the world.

Looks like we'll be changing them back until September 2nd when we jump forwards in time almost an entire day. You had a full day! Sounds like it's going to be a great cruise.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 23 Author #61 Share Posted August 23 As I expected there are very few children on the cruise and I've seen less than 15 so far. On the opposite end of the spectrum I have seen so much grey hair, which confirms my theory the cruise is mostly Gen X and elder Millennials with some Boomers. The Captain's welcome is tonight at 7pm so hopefully they'll give us some stats about this cruise like how many passengers are onboard and whatnot.

Since it's a Carnival ship, that meant pizza! However, Java Blue is right next to P&A soI grabbed an oatmilk latte onmy way to the elevators. I also figured I'd stop at my room, since it's only one floor up, to see if my luggage had been delivered yet. SCORE! So I took a little time to unpack since this will be my home for 18 days. You might notice something about this picture and yes, you are correct, I am an elder goth. Finally finished unpacking I am now up on the Lido aft enjoying a prosciutto pizza. They're doing the muster drill now so we should be leaving port soon. The coffee and pizza have done wonders to sop up the booze so I'll probably head to Alchemy soon. Indeed I did notice. Commented to my 65 year old husband this is a first, a Goth cruiser. He replies what is Goth🤦 Glad I found your review, it has the makings of a wild and crazy ride lol. 1

I suppose that since I hadn't spent any time really in the Atrium and should have checked first. Because . . . . I noticed this as I was taking a picture of my wine in the Atrium as I was waiting on the Captain's Welcome that is now happening. The picture in question: Yeah this is a Journeys cruise. 11

Sadly I wasn't able to bring my Demonia platform boots since I was trying to both limit my luggage and keep to shoes for walking. Same with some of my more "gothy" outfits. I'm not looking forward to the 90 degree or close to it humid days in Tokyo.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 24 Author #65 Share Posted August 24 So that's the officer introductions done. I'm going to head up and see if a seat has opened at the Alchemy bar.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 24 Author #66 Share Posted August 24 The Alchemy Bar had almost completely cleared out when I got up there and they had blackberries so Marina made me a Bramble. She squeezed the lemons and used an Australian gin and it was delicious. After that the second lady, who I still haven't gotten her name, made something with gin, cucumber and basil and it was also delicious. Lucci was telling me about the glasses they use for certain drinks which are in the Alchemy Bar only. They lose them when people take them off to dinner and other places. He said you can tell the Alchemy glasses by the heavy bases. Here's every glass type except one which he didn't have on hand.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 24 Author #67 Share Posted August 24 I have officially had the best drink of the cruise so far. Lucci asked me to challenge him so I asked for a gin based drink that was spicy and not sweet. Boy did he deliver! The green color comes from the very well muddled cucumber and basil. To the gin he added a skosh of a ghost pepper infused vodka and a bit of St. Germaine for a bit of sweetness. It is fabulous!
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 24 Author #68 Share Posted August 24 Even after all this time and so many cruises, you can still have first time experiences. I was part of a group that shut down the hot tubs at the aft deck. I think this may be the longest I've been up on a cruise. Of course, I had to grab some pizza to back to the room although the beer went into the fridge for some balcony reading time later.

fabby50 Posted August 24 #71 Share Posted August 24 My sister and brother in law are on this cruise. He said Carnival gave them such a good deal, they couldn't pass it up. They are recently retired and said they spend a lot of time at the bars 🙂 We all love the Panorama, we were on their second cruise and the first one back after the pandemic. We are on her next year and are interested in what this dry dock will entail, if you get any info. Thanks for letting us tag along! My relatives are skipping wifi, so no contact with them until they get back. They are going to spend an additional week in Japan and then fly home. Have a wonderful cruise.

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 24 Author #74 Share Posted August 24 I actually was up at about 6:30am despite being up so late so got my morning coffee around 7ish. Saw Justin at Java Blue so we've been talking and doing a little exploring. He bought up the "hidden" forward decks so we headed there on deck 7 and it was pretty nice though a little windy. There are stairs on each side going down to deck 6 so we went down there as well. The stairs to the lower were blocked off since that's obviously a crew area but both 6 and 7 had the benches. Although 6 did have so.e tables all strapped up due to the wind. The doors back into the ship on deck 6 were interesting to use. They had the lever and licking mechanism on them with a big step over at the threshold. Certainly not something anyone with mobility issues could go through. After that I needed something more than coffee so grabbed a breakfast burrito before they stopped serving them at Blue Iguana.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted August 24 Author #75 Share Posted August 24 Reading some other posts I found out about the VIFP pins but forgot to go to Puxels until this morning. After grabbing that I figured I'd go to the Havana Bar, get a coffee, and read for a bit until the one thing I wanted to go to this afternoon started at 1pm. Now I'm at the Liquid Lounge waiting on the Ship Officer's Q&A to start.
