Happy cruise day!! Were Fish Lips and Rising Tide busy last night? We stopped at Sandbar in Satellite Beach last night and were surprised at how dead it was there. Riding through Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, every place we saw looked super quiet. We had our son and DIL's rehearsal dinner at Rising Tide five years ago, they have great food.

Looking forward to your pictures and thoughts today! 🙂

Have an amazing week!  We heard some ships have modified the pool cabanas to provide shade from the top rather than just having slats on top. If you have a chance will you take a peak and see if this has been done in Seashore. Hope so for some shade😎

We have to wait until next month so will enjoy reading your updates!

I was suprised there was no wait at all for a table at Fishlips and we immediately found bar seating at Rising Tides. Even our Uber driver commented it was super quiet.

Alright, where to start…

The bed in our room at Home2Suites last night was SO HARD…I have never had that happen before there. I woke up at 6:45 with a backache and said to heck with it, I’m up! Chris and I puttered around unpacking/repacking, making coffee, and watching Bar Rescue until 9:30, and then we said “let’s knock something off our want-to-do list: brunch at Fishlips!”  We loaded Maze up and off we went. We parked at 9:50, walked up to the hostess stand, and were immediately sat.

Brunch didn’t disappoint! I mean, with free mimosas, how could I be disappointed? I opted for the pineapple one, and it was huge!! Chris got the Monte Cristo, which he said was delicious, and I got the seafood omelette….ahh, yum!! We left completely satisfied, and me, slightly drunk.

We headed to the port at about 10:45 (yes, brunch was that quick!) and check in was a breeze! We paid for the parking ($17/day), found a spot, walked to the YC tent, dropped our luggage, and never quit moving until we got to the “debriefing” area as I call it. Even then there was no wait, and we were onboard and in Top Sail by 11:12. I did like that the butlers that escorted us on made a pit stop by our muster area to get our cards scanned right away.

My first drink of the cruise: a frozen toblerone! It was just as good as I remember from last year. We hung out in Top Sail until about 12:30, then went to see if the room was ready. It was, and our luggage was there. Score! We unpacked (I loooooove the walk in closet!!!) then decided to go check out the lunch situation. I wasn’t really hungry, but got a Cobb salad and the pakora. Chris got a Caesar salad and the filet mignon dish. For dessert, I got the trio of sweet Italian temptations.

So lunch notes: my Cobb salad was delicious! The pakora….meh, not so much. It was kinda soggy and lukewarm, but I was Ok after my big breakfast. Chris said his Caesar salad “was no Carnival salad,” meaning it was kinda watery and not a lot of flavor. However, he said his filet was cooked perfectly, and delicious. Whew! He got banana sherbert for dessert and said it had great flavor, and my dessert was good as well.

We decided to walk off all the food we had eaten today by walking the ship and exploring, That was nice, as I never really did that last year on Seaside. I finally saw the snow room, and I fully intend to make use of my spa access this trip…the facilities look very nice!

Lunch menu, and a bunch of random ship photos from our walk around.

We decided to watch sail away from our balcony, so about 4:15 we went back to the room. I sat on the balcony (which I love the size of, and the overhang from above that keeps it sheltered from liquid sunshine!) while Chris finished unpacking. Wonder of the Seas sailed, then my beloved Carnival Vista, and finally we set out a little after 5. Sorry for all the Vista photos below….she just holds a special place in my heart, and watching her sail away was hard!

After we were out to sea, Chris and I headed back to Top Sail for some pre-dinner drinks. I got an espresso martini, and was reminded HOW AWESOME they are on MSC! It was perfect. However, when I tried the salted caramel version, I was not a fan….I guess don’t mess with perfection is my lesson learned here!

We went upstairs to dinner at about 6:20, and there was no wait. All the waitstaff were so friendly and the head waiter, maitre d, and chef came out to introduce themselves. That was a nice touch. Chris struggled with the menu tonight…..eeeeek. I got the dumplings to start, then the Indian Vegetarian. He couldn’t find a starter he wanted (which concerned the waiter and maitre d) but opted for the prime rib for his main. I ate my dumplings, which were hot and delicious, then the mains came out. Chris said his prime rib was cooked well and good, but my Indian vegetarian was disappointing. The greens and sweet potato portion were delicious, but the other items lacked flavor. Oh well, I certainty am not starving! For dessert Chris got the apple crumble thing, which he said was “good but you could tell it’s sugar free” (duh dude!), and I asked for a cheese plate of only blue cheese…and it was phenomenal.

We went back to Top Sail for a few after dinner drinks, and around 8:45 I said “I’m done.” We came back to the cabin, and all Chris could do was laugh and go “oh wow!” Jerome, our butler, is awesome so far. Our only requests were Miller Lite in the fridge for Chris, and a lot of water for me. Not only were 4 BIG bottles and 5 little bottles of water left, but one also on each bedside table, a Venchi chocolate, slippers placed by the bed, bathrobes on the backside of the bathroom door, and the glass box of thing-a-ma-jigs….which Chris promptly ate all 4 of and proclaimed, “I dunno what those were, but they were good….you didn’t want any, did you?”

So…..recap of Chris (the newbie)’s thoughts today:

*Carnival has a better Caesar salad. Maybe today was a fluke, but I’m particular about my Caesar salad.

*Ship is very nicely maintained! Layout is weird, but I’m sure we will learn it.

*Service is top notch! The attention to detail and pride the workers take in their job is evident.

*That shower in the room….yes! Perfect ending to a day.

*Overall its different, but in a good way.

My recap (2nd timer, nothing really stands out this go-round other than):

*Carnival’s Indian Vegetarian dish beats tonight’s hands down. Could be a fluke like Chris said about the salad, but I’m not sure I’ll try it again.

Here is the list of events for today, in case anyone wants those!

Following!

I'm a Royal Caribbean girl. I did my first MSC and first solo combo this past February and loved it! I've sailed 4 more times since then.

My first YC experience will be next November on World America and then in December a month later on Seaside, can't wait!

Can't wait to hear more about your cruise, thanks for taking the time to do this live.

As a previous NCL haven fan I was stunned by the amount of “free” water in the room! Other than a couple boxes of water for our NCL a status we paid for more water. Plus the free Wi-Fi!I loved the nightly chocolate and fresh water by the bed. You are bringing back such wonderful memories. Thank you for taking us along!

I very much appreciate you taking the time to post so much.

We leave in about 40 days on the same cruise and this is very helpful

You mention getting to the parking garage at around 10:45 and going right thru.  I know the parking garage open at 10:30 and the people start lining up around 10.

Did you wait at all in line?

Official opening time for Port Canaveral parking garages is 10:00 am (though I know they do sometimes allow earlier parking but there's no way to know if/when that will happen).

I was suprised that we didn’t wait in line at all for parking! Ok…that’s a lie. We waited behind 3 cars at the area to pay. But otherwise, no wait at all!

Hello from Ocean Cay!

Breakfast in the YC dining room was PERFECT. Eggs Benedict, no Canadian bacon, with hash brown. Eggs cooked perfectly.

We are now enjoying coffee in Top Sail as we formulate our attack on the island today. More to come later!
