HOW IS THE INTERNET WORKING ACROSS THE PACIFC?

We are taking a cruise to Hawaii soon and wonder how the internet is these days? What can we expect?

All HAL ships have Starlink. We did a transatlantic earlier this year and internet service was fabulous. No difference from wifi at home, from my perspective.

I sailed Koningsdam to Hawaii last year and the internet was generally good. Sometimes excellent. Sometimes quite slow, but as long as you aren’t streaming or uploading video it got the job done just fine (and way better than just a few short years ago).

We sailed on the Noordam in March of this year and sailed from New Zealand to Vancouver. The internet was excellent. I never did any streaming , but I had no problems at all.

Thanks to all. It sounds like Starlink has provided significant improvement to service in the Pacific. Last time we took this trip @ 7 years ago it wasn’t so great.

I have booked the less explensive wi fi for my pacific cruise.  Will I be able to get my local newspaper to read with my morning coffee?

Yes, had no trouble on a TA earlier this year. Way better than in Alaska with the old internet 7 years ago.
