It is easy to ferry on your own from the UK to LeHarve Wow that's surprising. We did the British Isles cruise post COVID on the Emerald, and a number of people from our ship disembarked in Le Havre. We were off first thing in the a.m. to make our full day Normandy tour and saw so many people leaving with suitcases. I asked a crew member and he told us they were people disembarking early and it was the first time it ever occurred to me that this was an option given that we are so used to the restrictions placed on US based cruises. I thought it seemed like a great opportunity and I remembered it when my daughter and her husband were planning their honeymoon on Enchanted last year - their second to last day was in Florence before getting to Rome, and she was bemoaning the fact they would only have one day there. So, I suggested she contact Princess about requesting early disembarkation in Florence so they could spend a couple of days there before finishing up in Rome and they granted the request without any issues. Turns out, there were several other passengers doing the same thing. Did Princess give you a reason for denying your request?
LeeW Posted Saturday at 03:46 AM #27 Share Posted Saturday at 03:46 AM Last cruise on Regal, the Paris excursions were all cancelled. We wanted a short tour and tried Etretat. Nice coastal resort with some really high cliffs you can climb. Lots of dining and shops. Casino won't let you in unless you have your passport with you. Same from Celebrity, RCCL and others. They simply said not doing it. Suspect something to do with customs. For example need to arrange customs in Victoria if ended cruise there instead of Vancouver. Lots different today. Again you can pay the fee and ask.

Unfortunately, the reason I wanted to no longer exists, but I haven’t heard any tire deviations approved recently.
Chelsea1 Posted yesterday at 04:08 PM #30 Share Posted yesterday at 04:08 PM It must be a limit on ports traffic rather than a complete strike as we are on the Regal Princess right now, just passing the Caribbean Princess, on our way to dock at Le Havre at 4.00am tomorrow morning, September 23rd, as scheduled. I note that I have never seen a customs or immigration official meet us in Italy at the beginning, end or a port call! Chelsea- the strikes in France are crazy. Some like on 1 October likely to shut everything. Nothing I saw or heard about for the 23rd. Some days a port closure and others a slowdown. Welcome to France. Chelsea1 Posted 23 hours ago #32 Share Posted 23 hours ago Yeah, can only guess that Princess were given approval to dock one ship tomorrow and we got luck of the draw on Regal - possibly because we have been going round Britain and Le Havre is the only true ‘foreign’ Port of call? That said, anything could happen between now and 4am tomorrow!
pat714 Posted 10 hours ago Author #33 Share Posted 10 hours ago Glad for you! Not sure how one ship was picked over another. I assume there is a protocol. Surprised that since the Regal voyage is a British Isle trip that Regal would get the preferential docking in France. 😜
Arizona Wildcat Posted 9 hours ago #34 Share Posted 9 hours ago As of Monday 23 September there are no strikes scheduled at Le Harve that would effect cruise ships. There is what could be a general strike announced for 1 October effecting with entire country. It could effect all types of transportation. There are multiple ships scheduled to dock some days in the coming 2 weeks.

Makes no sense A few years ago Princess did British Isle cruises that allowed passengers to go Le Harve to Le Harve, or Southampton to Southampton. or for that matter Southampton to Le Harve. Then a storm forced the ship it miss Le Harve and chaos occured. Basically anyone thst had not purchased their flights through Princess were on their own to make their way to Le Harve. Prior to Brexit getting off in Le Harve with a deviation was relatively easy. Now after Brexit and since Covid not so much. geniesue Posted 2 hours ago #38 Share Posted 2 hours ago We’ve made 4 attempts on previous cruises to visit LeHavre. Our last cruise was the only success. Prior 3 cruises port was cancelled due to dock workers strikes. We had tours to Normandy beaches reserved with Overland Tours. No payment required to reserve tour until day of tour .
