Price fluctuations

I have a cruise booked for next June so from time to time I check the pricing. A while ago it went down by about $400 so I called and got it repriced which was awesome.  Today I checked again and it's about $800 more than my current fare!  Is this typical for Royal (or any cruise line)?  I never booked a cruise out this far, usually much closer to sailing, so I've never been in a position to be checking for a price change.  Seems crazy for it to fluctuate so wildly.

I use Cruiseplum to track prices on cruises. You can see dynamic pricing in action on this chart from one of my booked cruises.

On Thursday and Fridays they have sales which include OBC, in those cases they raise prices.

Royal is like Ticketmaster, they both use horrible dynamic pricing that can change very very quickly

Dynamic pricing is a very smart way to run a business to maximize revenue. If you don’t like dynamic pricing, there are a lot of cruise lines that don’t use it the way RCI does.

I’m just glad I already got a price reduction and the cost continues to climb, I guess I booked at a good time and have many months to continue to check it and make sure I got the best deal.
