Not from personal experience, but by far the best way to achieve success is by constantly checking the website for oneself.

Yes, on both occasions in QG, first time very early success, second time three days before departure.  You have to be flexible...

Yes, and I'm delighted . Booked a cruise in October 23 for QM2 Jan 25 , No balcony cabins available had to settle for a sheltered balcony and accepted a waitlist . 

Recently ( August 24) waitlist successful and now have 11 deck balcony  🤙

 

Hang in there , cancellations occasionally come up.

I went to the web page and was surprised to find lots of openings. So i told my TA (my daughter) and she has a cabin on hold. I'm going to book it now.
