Considering Princess - Advice, Opinions, Thoughts

We are Elite Plus on Celebrity but prefer to fly to the west coast. Celebrity is not a choice for us for most of the year. We have done Alaska/Hawaii so many times.

We tried HAL - it was OK nothing to write home about. Entertainment in my opinion - bad

We tried Princess and had a great experience - booked again for another cruise 3 weeks later.

Price on Princess is better than Celebrity.  Bartenders were GREAT. Did not really eat in the main dining room.

The one downfall - smoking in the casino - we will never visit it. You could smell it when you walked by. Staff was outstanding but we find that on Celebrity. We enjoy longer cruises. Not saying we will never sail Celebrity again but Princess is a good choice for us for the west coast.

You didn’t ask me but smoking and vaping is a big deal.  Vaping because no that exhaust isn’t CO2 and I’ve reviewed medical articles that say the film it creates can be toxic to small children.  What is it doing to me?

Has anyone addressed the contract displayed on the in cabin TV and when that will be corrected?

Something is strange.  Did you write to me?  Or did someone impersonate you?

We have a couple on our Apr 2025 Solstice roll call who live in California and very much like Princess because they are present on the west coast.

Is Princess good for Antarctica cruises?  I try to compare Celebrity, Princess, and Azamara itineraries in 2026, but I’m actually waiting for Winter 2027 release.  We cruised on Princess in the past a number of times, but the last cruise with them was a long time ago; so, I don’t know how it is good currently in comparison to other 2 cruise lines.

I don't know the answer to your question.  My wife and I have just signed up for our very first Princess sailing in the Med (Sun Princess Aug 2026) so I know very little about the cruise line and will need to learn more.

BTW, I was born in a very small town in western NY about 2 hours south of Buffalo right near the PA border.

Post #48 of this thread in this website.

Can you show me a screenshot from a Princess in cabin display that clearly states VAPING IS NOT PERMITTED IN STATEROOMS?

I would be happy to see it in the cruise contract that vaping is not allowed.  No one has been able to produce it yet 😮

Thank you.  All our previous cruises with Princess happened to be in Caribbean Princess (whenever we were looking for a particular itinerary they ship was the only choice).

We moved to Buffalo (Williamsville suburbs actually) in 1991 from former USSR as refugees (antisemitic prosecutions).

Yes I did, using my private address, president@celebrity.com  🙂

Well some countries such as Australia do not allow vaping.  So cruises from Australia would not allow vaping in the cruise contract.

We were pleasantly surprised to find on our recent Australia/New Zealand cruise on the Royal Princess that smoking was not allowed in the casino.

We’ll find out in January when we sail on Sapphire Princess to Antarctica for 17 days. We originally booked with Celebrity but they cancelled all their South American cruises shortly after including ours. With more research we realised that Princess was a better option anyway. Princess spends four nights in Antarctica while Celebrity only spends two nights. The Sapphire Princess has great outside viewing areas including a proper  promenade deck. Pricewise - fairly similar. This will be our first cruise not on Celebrity.

Do you know a reason why they cancelled multiple cruises?  All South America cruises are around 10 14-day cruises (November through March).  It seems very strange.  And what itineraries did they switch cruises to for such a long period of time?
