Pub Lunch

We have not been on the Caribbean Princess lately, but there was Pub Lunch in the MDR on the Royal and Ruby this year, but only once per cruise.  We really enjoyed it.

It was announced only in the "hours of operation" section of the Patter so it is easy to miss.

Pub lunch is no longer really a “thing”.   Just a limited menu lunch in MDR.  Nothing special-but I do like the Indian entry.

I live for the bangers and mash. It is the same menu choices that they had when you had to stand in line to crowd into the Crown Grille

I agree, the curry dish has been outstanding, especially if they bring lots of extra chopped jalapeños and possibly some mango chutney.

The Pub Lunch disappeared when the drink packages became almost the norm. My guess was it was to encourage during sales in the Wheelhouse Bar during the day.

I would challenge that packages are the norm. Maybe 50% tops have a plus or premier package and there have been drink packages around for years these are not things that just appeared overnight   We have had drink packages on Princess for at least 9-10 years

Apparently it's around 80%

Stats please. I find that bars are pretty empty and I always get a seat at all of them. Are you saying that 80% of people will drink 3-4 alcoholic drinks a day ?

I'm not sure what the consensus is on Pub Lunch...the posts kinda got off track.

For those who've sailed in the past few months, was it offered as a separate lunch (no matter the location) or were some of the dishes just incorporated into a lunch menu or available at the buffet? TIA

They are on the lunch menu along with a couple of other things in the MDR

It is in the MDR during the normal lunch. There is no special section in the MDR.   The Pub Lunch items are incorporated into the lunch menu.  You can order the Pub Lunch items or the  normal lunch items that are offered that day.

I was told on 2 seperate sailings that on average 80% of passengers are on a plus or Premier package

So all the families with kids pay $60-$90 per day for their kids ?  If that is the case why can I almost always get a seat at the bar, walk into casual lunch venues with no wait and make specialty dinner reservations the morning of the day I want ?

We are presently on the regal.  There have been 2 pub lunches.   A. To find where they were took a lot of running around and asking.  One crew member said they don’t hold them any more, but that wasn’t true.  B.  They were both held inthe allegro dining room which is the at the rear of 6.  C.  The dining room atmosphere is awful.  We miss it inthe crown grill.  D.  First pub lunch too over an hour to get food.

We asked about the Pub Lunch on the Regal (2023) and the waiter looked bewildered.  He admitted that he had never heard of the Pub Lunch - but he had just started working for Princess.  We gave up searching for it.
