mhdubgal Posted April 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2006 I am trying to book a family reunion cruise - 5 cabins or so. One family has 7, another one has 5, one has 3, two adults and then one single cabin. Alot of rooms only fit 4 which is no problem we can spread the kids out. But I am finding that alot of cruises charge almost the full rate for the 3rd and 4th passengers, even when they are all under 8 and three of them are infants. Does anyone know of cruise lines that can handle these accomodations while keeping the costs down - except Disney?

Rare Roz Posted April 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2006 I'd also suggest using a TA. They can do a lot of legwork and coordination for you, and will have all lthe info on 3rd and 4th passengers. Roz

beachgal58 Posted April 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2006 alot of people may not be aware of this but when u book a carnival cruise and have 9 cabins, one berth is free. we have done it, and we just take the returned money and split it among all of us. i have heard of the cheap 3 and 4th on carnival. i always use a cruise person, that deals with just cruises. they can get upgrades and free perks for u. doone Posted April 18, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2006 Holland America offers discounted prices for the 3rd and 4th passenger in a cabin. We just did a big cruise of 28 people, had 9 cabins booked, got one free. We also got some other small perks as well, which was really nice. I also suggest using a TA, makes life so much easier, especially with a big group.
lvtotrvl1 Posted April 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2006 I would also recommend a travel agent...they will do alot of the work for you. You don't pay any extra for this service, why not call a good cruise specialist. NCL is the only cruiseline that I know of that will give discounted rates to children under two...it used to be port charges only. A group cruise discount is given once 8 cabins (double occupancy) are booked. The 16th passenger will go free, but will have to pay port charges , taxes and fees. A travel agent would be able to help you with this also.
mcjigs Posted April 18, 2006 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2006 Summer of 2003 we organized a huge 17 family members cruise. We picked Carnival cause it's all we knew and it was fun and cheep. I had everyone linked with everyone's cruise so we ate at the same two long tables and I had 5 in our room and we fit fine. I've just never used a TA so we did it ourself and had a blast! Good luck and shop around. And don't forget to take pictures.
