Good Upgrade?

We booked a Cat. 8A guar. and thus far anyway have been assigned an 8H(8246) on Carnival Spirit. Is this a pretty good upgrade?

Looks like you are on the highest passenger deck right under the aft pool bar. Not to far to go for a swim and drink! :D

Yes, we are on the uppermost deck with cabins. I am not that interested in swimming.. but the drink sounds good! I am anticipating that by the time we are interested in going to our cabin for 'quiet time' that there should not be much commotion on the pool deck above us.

I'd say a 7 category upgrade, when some get none, is pretty good :p Have fun!!

All the to do about upgrades cracks me up. 90+% of all upgrades are just smoke. An a to a different letter. If only the letter changes, you just moved decks. Exact same cabin, different deck. Only if the number changes do you have a true upgrade, 1 to a 4, or 4 to a 6, 6 to an 8, etc, etc. Those are true upgrades. Some 8's have a larger balcony than other 8's, so that might qualify as a true upgrade, C's, E's, G's, I's, iffy in my book tho.

We do book OV guarantees just for the price and don't try to find out the cabin ahead of time. If we get a true upgrade, wonderful, if we get a smoke upgrade, still wonderful, if we get no upgrade, also wonderful.

Each time you go up a deck a premium is charged, 7 decks sounds like a nice upgrade to me.... actually, 7 upgrades. I also understand that you are not locked into that room until you embark.

We had the same cabin on the Miracle and LOVED it. Just a flight of stairs from ice cream. We only once heard anything from above.

I'm with Dan40 on this one.The cabins are copies of one another within thier catagory.(ie.a 4 is a 4,a 6 is a 6) The ship rocks less midship on the bottom,oddly the least costly of the cabins.Just a thought.

The least costly because so many cruise snobs. "I can't/won't be on the bottom deck". People pay more to be higher because they think it's better. The common misconception is that the steerage is down below. To many people have seen Titanic and everyone knows that the higher class is higher up. If they want to be snobs let them pay more for their ignorance.

 

The most stable part of the ship is low and rear. I'll stay in my 6a and enjoy less rocking in rough seas. The elevator works just as well on deck 1 as deck 8. It may take me an extra minute to reach the lido deck, but I'll take the $200 savings and buy more drinks. I'm in no hurry.

Booked an 8 guarantee, got an 8, not an upgrade at all. To be an upgrade the number has to change on a gty not the letter. Anything else is an urban myth and much to do about nothing. You got exactly what you paid for, that is a gty cabin.

This last cruise we booked Lido deck on the Liberty because our friends love to book this deck, we usually do an 8A and didn't think there was a problem with that category. I do have to say it was really convenient to be on this deck. Getting a cup of coffee to enjoy on your balcony early morning was a plus, being close to the pools was a plus for the kids. Yeah it was a little more money but in my opinion well worth it.

You sound like my cousin who does allot of cruises. He is cheap. He would sleep where the anchor is if it was cheaper. Cruisin is about comfort I will pay the extra $200 to be on a balcony as it is well worth it. My first two cruises were outside cabin my next two cruises were balcony and my next one will be a balcony with my cheap cousin. I almost fell on the floor when he agreed to a balcony. Its great to be able to sit on your private balcony and watch the ocean, enjoy a warm breeze and sip on your favorite libration and to be able to smell the roses. I am not trying to make fun of your view just trying to offer a different view in a friendly way.
