Sailing from SEATTLE in 3 WEEKS

Recommended Posts

Hi all you Seattle experts...I am sailing from your fair city

on May 19th:D going on my very first ALASKAN CRUISE!

Got the Renassiance Downtown on Priceline:) and just wondered

what your average weather is in May? I checked weather.com and

it shows 60s during the day and 40s at night...is that about right?

I am flying in from Florida....arriving LATE..Wed, 5/17...I will be in

sweats for the flight....more comfy for me than jeans.

(Actually a bit nicer than sweats but that same type

of pant)..soft cotton. I will make sure I have a jacket with me

on the plane. I don't get in until 11:15pm.

For sightseeing on Thursday and dinner Thursday night...casual

and warm? Would that be on target?

Thanks for any advice:)

Lois, that sounds just right in terms of weather. Today was a really nice day, mostly sunny and high around 55 degrees, but yesterday was cooler and it rained almost all day. We're a very casual city so jeans or other casual clothes are fine pretty much anywhere. Have a great flight all the way up here! :)

The trick to the Pacific Northwest is layers. Even when the temps are high (70s and such) in the spring, once the sun goes down it gets chilly. So it's always best to have a jacket or extra shirt with long sleeves to take on or off as the temps warrant. We were spoiled with great weather last week (Friday reached about 74) but as Calikak stated, yesterday was miserable and quite chilly and today only hit about 55 even tho the sun was out most of the day. You just never know...

Two years ago sailed from Seattle to Alaska and loved it. I brought a lightweight waterproof coat, and wore layers. But there were days I didn't wear my coat and just had a T shirt on. Comfortable shoes are a must, we walked all around seattle. You will love it.
