LDinCT Posted May 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Looking at 2 itins. One does Hubbard Glacier and the other Glacier Bay National Park. I've done Alaska with RCI, but don't remember which I've gone to. Which is better?
Atomica Posted May 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2006 That's a toss-up: some will say Hubbard, some will say Glacier Bay. They're both very good. I'm not sure about past years, but this year RCI seems to visit Hubbard Glacier. Glacier Bay is very nice though, and would be worth seeing more than once. RuthC Posted May 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2006 "Better" is one of those "eyes of the beholder" things, but IMHO, Hubbard is better. On a good day the sail up Yakutat Bay is one of the most beautiful rides in the world. The glacier itself is huge---both across the face and in height. It's so blue it's difficult to get your pictures developed in the right hue! It's very active, too---hearing the "crack" that sounds like a gunshot, followed by the calving is exciting. And then the ship rocks! Whichever itinerary you choose---have a great time in the great land.
Bucky3 Posted May 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2006 We liked Glacier Bay best, BUT that could be because it was an absolutely beautiful sunny day in Glacier Bay and cold, windy, and overcast when we went to Hubbard!! We're going back to Glacier Bay this year.
Luv2CruiseHal Posted May 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Personally I like the Hubbard as it is so massive.
NancyIL Posted May 1, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Royal Caribbean and Celebrity don't have permits to go to Glacier Bay, so you must've seen Hubbard Glacier. It's refreshing to hear some say they prefer Hubbard Glacier. Over on the Alaska board, there are some STRONG opinions that Glacier Bay is far superior. Bucky3 Posted May 3, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2006 We were on Radiance of the Seas for Hubbard and Regal Princess when in Glacier Bay.

We booked RCI for 07 and we go to Hubbard Glacier. Since we live in NYC any glacier we see will be awe inspiring :D
