How far in advance

should i book independent excursions (not through RCI)? it is now 3 months away. Q: Has anyone ever had a problem getting back to the ship on time with an independent excursion?

I've always done excursions aobut 50/50 through the ship vs independent and I have never had problems with getting money back if it was prepaid and I cancelled or with timing. Obviously the chance is there of having problems, you just have to decide if the end time of the excursion is to close to when you need to be back to the ship.

We have booked a few independent tours and found that the one I really wanted was booked up - over a year in advance. I would check availability now - we never had a problem geting back to the ship, but always made sure that we had a few extra hours at the end of the tour before having to re-b oard. Jan

you have to be careful with Independent tour operators especially during Hurricane season. Because some tour operators will not refund if the ship is rerouted to another port or skips a port.
