With a large group they will let you make reservations in the main dining rooms as well, just stop by and see them when you get on the ship. I believe they only have the reservations for early or late dining. The larger tables are set up for 8 people usually. I would suggest splitting up for the specialty restaurants since they are more intimate settings and they tend to stagger the reservations.

;) we had reservations for 32 in the Aqua on our last night...one long table along one side

The only unfriendly crewmember I met all week was Silvia from Romania in the casino cage. I thought it was peculiar that she didn’t say hi or “good luck” to me (3 times)' date=' so I stood watching her interact with other guests. They, too, got the cold shoulder. I mentioned directly to her that she didn’t wish anyone good luck (which they always do when they give you your money) and she responded, “I don’t need to wish you luck. Luck comes from there (pointing upwards).” If she can’t be nice to guests, she shouldn’t be working in the cage.[/quote'] Sounds to me that someone like that belongs in a cage. :p Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the info on the beer helmets. I see you are going with your DS. Is the S for your son or your sister?

We are all excited!! August 12th will be here before you know it.

Hi Diamond Girl, I'm going with my sister. I'll pop back over to the roll call thread, and maybe we can get some of the others to return to the thread. At the very leaste I know where you can find me on the ship at sail away, I'll be the one on the pool deck with the "Beer Helmet" LOL

Bob will be eternally grateful to Tony for introducing him to a great seasickness remedy called Underberg' date=' sold in the bars. It’s a potent drink (88 proof) with herbs from 43 countries[/quote']

Is this in the bars on the ship? I'm usually fine, I got alittle woosy once during one of the 2004 huricanes, we just had a couple of cocktails, and pretendedd it was a "cheap" buzz. One of my family members gets sea sick on the NY ferry, so he will not cruise with us, so I'm interested in any info...does it work, and what bar, or is the same principal as our "cheap buzz" theory, which BTW, did work, LOL.

Thanks,

Donna

Thanks for the info on the dining room. I will make reservations for the whole group to eat in the main dining room once we get on board. And then whoever wants to try something different, they will be on their own to make their own reservations. That should work.

Hi JuneauMe,

I was at Topsiders Bar on the pool deck of the Dawn when introduced to Underberg but Bob saw it at the bar in Spinnakers, too. So should be widely available.

It's billed as a "digestif" and is known for settling the stomach. For whatever reason it's helpful to that nauseous feeling from seasickness, too.

It's even the motion itself that bother's DH - doesn't have to be "rough" for him to be complaining - even with the patch.

He was told to drink the bottle (.67 oz) all at once, followed by a big glass of water.

Did the trick.:D

Well Barb, I can only ditto what others have said.......You have been a wonderful additive to our lives both as a cruising friend (and we look forward to cruising with you again), and a reporter of cruise reviews. I am so glad that my DH's thoughts and counseling to another knowledgeable financial wizard has developed into a "proven" asset. I look forward to more of both.

Forgot to mention in the review that this trip we found room svc much improved.

They answer, "XXXX at your service" - a nice touch

Food was on time & orders were correct.

Even when I asked for 2 pots of coffee, like I always do, they didn't question it (I've had them ask me about it given only 2 people.....)

You just about had to turn the delivery person around to give them a tip. In other words, they weren't hanging around looking for one. Always said, "Good morning, did you sleep well" etc. just like it should be.

"Sliced bananas" still come a whole banana, however.:D

Now if they could only fix the popcorn & soft serve ice cream machines, we'd be happy campers. How long has this ice cream machine thing been going on, guys?
