CruisinCandy10 Posted July 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2006 What do you think? We are planning on getting to the Celebration around 11:00. So doesn't it stand to reason, if you are among one of the first to give your luggage to the porters...it should arrival early in your cabin. Opinions? CruzVinnieCruz Posted July 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2006 We have been on a few cruises and I think it's the opposite, FILO (First In Last Out). I think the bins are loaded as they are filled and put on the ship sooner but then later bins are put in front of them and they are delivered as they get to them. Just my observation. zqvol Posted July 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2006 I think just the opposite is true. When you arrive early your luggage is on the bottom of the pile and thus is the last delivered.
CruisinCandy10 Posted July 14, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted July 14, 2006 :( Oh well wish full thinking I guess. Thanks for the feedback. Cruisin Candy
luvz2run2000 Posted July 14, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2006 If you get there first your bags will be at the bottom and back of the huge piles of luggage. Kind of like the first in, last out method of accounting.:) In my experience the later I've arrived, the sooner I've gotten my luggage.
KroozFoolz Posted July 14, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2006 We got to the port at Jax around 11:45 and were in the lunch buffet line on Celebration by 12:30. We had our luggage in our room and were unpacked before the muster drill and sailaway.
CruisinCandy10 Posted July 14, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted July 14, 2006 O.K. that makes me feel better. No shorts in the dining room, even first night:eek: ! Cruisin Candy
wannalottadough Posted July 14, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2006 We usually get to the port around 11:00 - 11:30, last time we got two of our bags within a couple of hours and the last one didn't come until after dinner. JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU HAVE IT FIGURED OUT! Oh well, at least we are not among the unlucky ones, who didn't see thier luggage until the end of the trip! I&MsMom Posted July 14, 2006 #9 Share Posted July 14, 2006 We are always on the ship by noon-ish, and we have never gotten our luggage until after dinner. As the ship is sailing away, there's always a part of my brain hoping they didn't leave it on the pier! So far, it's always turned up eventually. As this has been our experience, I put our clothes for dinner, toiletries for showering, etc. in our carry-on bag. Enjoy your cruise!
Curt Jerome Wild Posted July 14, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 14, 2006 Agreeing with the first in last out votes. In my experience one time I got on the ship at 3:30 pm and had my luggage at 3:45pm! CJW
caribbean dreams Posted July 14, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2006 We usually get to the ship about 11am, sometimes we don't start getting luggage until right before dinner and they don't always arrive together so you may have to wait until after dinner to receive them all. lmondrop Posted July 14, 2006 #12 Share Posted July 14, 2006 Yes - last week on the Glory we arrived at 10:30 and didn't get most of our luggae until around 3:00 and one last piece around almost 7:00.....I agree with the LIFO method :)
Rare silentbob007 Posted July 14, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2006 I think the luggage fairy hangs out with the upgrade fairy on the Lido deck, doing their work only during breaks in whatever drinking games they are playing .... ;)

Cotton Posted July 14, 2006 #15 Share Posted July 14, 2006 O.K. that makes me feel better. No shorts in the dining room, even first night:eek: !Cruisin Candy You will see shorts the first night. Unfortunately, many play upon the "no luggage yet" theory and wear shorts whether they have their luggage or not. I prefer wearing something appropriate for the dining room when boarding the ship...like capris or similiar. Your call.;)

mj Posted July 15, 2006 #17 Share Posted July 15, 2006 For me, it was mixed. We like to get to the port early if at all possible to begin our vacation and to hopefully get our luggage before we sail. Got to the Paradise and Triumph early, we got our bags relatively quickly. On our last Glory trip, got to the port early around 11 am and did not get our final piece of luggage until 8pm. What was so unusual about the Glory, was we would get a bag every 45 minutes to 1 hr. Finally, the last bag showed up just as we were walking to dinner. zydecocruiser Posted July 16, 2006 #18 Share Posted July 16, 2006 I think it is a variation of Last In First Out combined with First In First Lost.
