CaptData Posted July 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2006 No lobster on under 7 nights I believe. I know it is not on 3, 4, or 5 night one for sure.
PhoenixCruiser Posted July 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2006 Yep, no lobster on 3 or 4 night cruises. Some 5 night cruises have it, some don't - not sure why that is. ###

I really don't get it, you are paying about the same /night.....Thanks for the quick reply's -Amanda Tell him he isn't missing anything. It's not a real lobster - not a MAINE lobster. Its a "lobster tail" - restaurant code for a different animal completely, not the lobster you are probably thinking about. In my opinion (being in Boston and having REAL lobster often!) cruise 'lobster' is a small, not succulent, not sweet, poor imitation. Think pollack for 'crab' sticks :)

Rare silentbob007 Posted July 16, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 16, 2006 This reminds me of my only (so far) cruise on RCCL ... it was a short 3-nighter, and my most enduring memory is of the complaints of my dinner talblemates. WHY ISN"T THERE MORE SEAFOOD? %^&&^%$# WE PAID FOR A CRUISE! WE WANT %^^&*&*% SEAFOOD! ;)
cb at sea Posted July 16, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 16, 2006 For the prices nowadays, it's actually cheaper to buy some lobster tails at the supermarket, and fix them the night before you sail! They're extremely easy to prepare!
Knighton Posted July 16, 2006 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2006 I was on Grandeur 5 nighter last Sep. No lobster. The lobster bisque was good, though.
caviargal Posted July 16, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 16, 2006 No lobster or filet on short cruises. And I agree that even if there was, the quality and preparation is pretty awful. I never order lobster on a mass market cruise line.
critterchick Posted July 16, 2006 #14 Share Posted July 16, 2006 We've had filet on the Monarch 3-nighters and it was very good - everybody who ordered it found that it was cooked to their liking, from e-coli bloody rare to charred beyond recognition well done (I'm not an extremist - my medium rare was perfect for me). No lobster, but the garlic shrimp was just as good - as others have said, the lobster really isn't anything to write home about, so the shrimp were a good enough standin for what you would otherwise have received.
