Stay night before cruise in Orlando or Port Canaveral?

Our flight doesn't get in until 9pm the night before our cruise and we will be renting a car. Should we stay that night in Orlando or Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach? Or is there somewhere in between that will be a better deal, since we have a rental car?

I would stay at MCO airport hotel. Check out Hotwire or Priceline for 3* about $50 which may inc. shuttle and breakfast. Go back to airport in AM and pick up the rental car. Why pay an extra day for the car to sit in a parking space?

I would also stay in Orlando near the airport. There is a Marriott very close by. Nothing really in between the two cities.
