Just off the Celebration.......

Hi, all. Just off the Celebration and had a great time!!! Got thru security really fast and was on board by 11.30 so we went and had a little lunch until our room was ready, which was about 1.00. Our luggage was at our door about 4.00 (small liquor bottles made it through safely). They had our champagne, choclate strawberries and Coors cooler ready and icey cold waiting for us.

The only snafu was that we had been assigned really late seating in the dining room. We went to the maitre’d and explained we couldn’t eat that late so please, please, please change it back to early dining. He said we had been changed due to large family groups on board and we may have to sit with a family. We told him we didn’t care who we sat with so he put a star next to our names and said he would do what he could. A few hours later, a card under our door confirming the change and best of all was that he sat us with 4 other couples who had the same request and we all became great friends!!! They could not have matched up a better group of dining acquaintances!:)

Great shows, wonderful food, drinks by the pool nice and strong (Vinko makes the mixes in the morning and always seems to add a little extra punch). There was a really funny comedian, Dean Gaines. We enjoyed his early show, so we decided to see his late night “R” rated show. A little to risqué for me and hubby, so we left early. Bought his family version CD.

Made it to Kino's and bought 5 pairs of sandals. They feel great on my feet!

Big Tex is leaving the Celebration today and moving to be CD on the Fantasy when it moves to New Orleans. Don’t know who the new CD will be.

I will be scanning the Capers in this week in PDF format. Anyone who wants them let me know.

Marie

Glad to hear you had a great cruise. Best of luck to Big Tex he is one of the best IMO that carnival has. For a small ship I loved the Celebration. it is up there with my top 3 three cruises

Have they improved the ventilation in the casino? We have found it to be unbearable at times with the smoking.

Can't believe "Big Tex" is now a CD. Nuf said!

I don't know if it's improved, as I've never been on her before. Didn't seem overwhelming to me, actually seemed as if there were not that many smokers in the casino, even though I saw quite a few. I do smoke, but I can't stand a smokey room either, so I understand your concern (we do not smoke in our home). I never noticed any area on the ship that seemed overly smoke-filled.

Big Tex was not that impressive to us either. OK, I guess, but nothing memorable. Sometimes seemed that he was a 'Kevin James wanna-be' (from King of Queens).

Glad you had a good time. Thanks for the info on Big Tex moving to the Fantasy. We just booked a cruise on the Fantasy for December. So now I know who our CD will be. We have not sailed with him as a CD...I do believe we sailed with him as a Social Host. I will have to go back and check my "records". Noonan will be the Ass't CD. He and his fiance (now wife) join the Fantasy on October 5th. My youngest son loved him. They have a standing joke about "Freddie being in the box!"

blueskyday - Hi! I see you are also from Jax. I finally decided to give the Celebration a try. Was glad to see that you had a great time. What cabin were you in? I will be in a 1A with two portholes on the main deck for the first time. I hope I will like it.

Did you go to the piano bar? Where is Kino's?

tigerdadky - did you see my link to the Celebration pictures? I answered a post from you earlier today about this. I think those are rather old since they show the old bedding - but will give you a good idea what to expect.

We were in U89, forward but near midship. Pretty good cabin. A little vibration, but nothing to bother with. I really like the small ships, they are easy to get round on and you see the same people over and over again. (Although I could do without the young ones who woke us up every night between 2 and 4 AM - when the bars closed. I was sure my hubby would be thrown in the brig if he got his hands on them!

Only visited piano bar while waiting for the Vista dining room to open. All red and kinda nice, you'll like it.

Kino's is so easy to find. We left the ship, walked out a little to the right instead of straight through the port area (done up like a park rather than a terminal - all open air), straight to the main street, saw our friends getting on the train tour at the ticket booth, looked to our left and saw Fitzpatrick Street. Crossed the street and they were on the left (saw a sign that said Kino something). Turned left at that corner of the building and they were straight aheat on the left. I read they were open from 9 to 5, but we walked in about 8.30 and proceeded to spend some money!

We will be on the Celebration in December and I would love to have a copy of the Capers. Did you get any menus? brandy_snider @charter.net

Thanks

If you send me your email address to blueskydayz@hotmail.com with "Celebration Capers" in the subject line, I will send then to you. I will scan asap. Trying to do laundry now.
