skepticalw2kids Posted October 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2006 Hi, I have never been on the Soverign of the Seas and I am going on 11/17 but I am confused about the added costs of Johnny Rockets? What does that mean? Also does the coffee bar and Ben and Jerrys have a cost as well? I thought when you paid for a cruise all was included. Also, I am taking a 6 year old and a 12 month old on the cruise, if I send them to the actvities is there a fee for that as well?? I am so confused... help! takeatrip Posted October 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2006 The 6 year old can do the children's activities at no charge. On the ship I was on there was a charge at the coffee bar but you can get free coffee from other areas onboard. Ben & Jerry's had a fee but again, free ice cream on deck. There ia always plenty of food that is free. You could technically pay nothing else onboard and still have a great time, but for some experiences, there is a fee. RCI has an additional charge add-on (they call it a service charge) for some of its "specialty" areas.... Johnny Rockets has a $3.95 per person cover charge. Shakes and malts are on top of that--they were $3.60 each. Our soda pass covered any soft drinks we ordered. We didn't do coffee or Ben and Jerry's, so I can't speak to that. There was no activity fee for Adventure Ocean. Keep in mind, however, that there is only one daily program for your 12 month old and they require a parent to stay with the little one. So unfortunately your cruise cost on RCI is not all inclusive if you patronize one of the "specialty" areas. Have a great time! :)
wrp96 Posted October 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2006 Johnny Rockets does have a $3.95 per person cover charge, plus the cost of drinks. But you will be able to get hamburgers in the Windjammer at no extra charge. Yes, specialty coffees like lattes and espressos are extra, but regular coffee is included in your cruise fare. Ben & Jerry's is extra, but there will be soft serve available on the ship that you don't have to pay extra for.
cb at sea Posted October 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2006 There's really no need to pay for anything "extra" on the ship--especially on a 3 or 4 day cruise! You've paid dearly for food and room already--why give them any more of your hard-earned cash? Skip Ben and Jerry's and Johnny Rockets--they're better on land, anyway! suezyq50 Posted October 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2006 The coffee bar, I believe it is called "Lattitudes", which is Seattles Best coffee, does have an additional charge for the drinks. They also have lots of bake goods that have no additional charge.

Are you sure that you want to go on this cruise?!?!?!?!?  :) Truly, any experience is what you make of it. Go in with a positive attitude, and you will have a fantastic vacation. The Sovereign is beautiful with a well-trained and happy crew. There are no activities for your 12 month old aside from about an hour a day when you can accompany him/her into the kids' area for some parent-child play time. You will continue to be your child's primary caretaker and entertainer. You can arrange in-cabin babysitting at the Guest Relations Desk. Johnny Rocket's, Ben & Jerry's, specialty coffee, alcoholic drinks, juice outside of breakfast, soda/pop, after-hours Adventure Ocean group babysitting, photographs, casino play all have an additional charge. But you don't need any of these things to have a great vacation. It's up to you.
