Leaving luggage at the ship

It was suggested that we could leave our luggage at the ship early, then play tourist for awhile, return our rental car and then check in.

How early is it possible to safely leave your luggage at the dock the day of sailing?

Hi Dan and Judy:) I have not heard of this procedure.

If you are renting a car to play tourist why not just leave your

luggage in the trunk while playing?

Then when you return the car, you will have your luggage with you.

Are you sailing from Port Everglades? I have been there

many times and don't know of any area that holds your luggage

while you are not there.

I don't see any problem with leaving your luggage with the porters at the pier

and going on your way until you come back to check in. When we last sailed in Hawaii, we stayed several days prior to the cruise and had a car rental. On sailing day we went to the pier, gave our luggage to the porter, then went to do a little more sightseeing. Later on, we turned in the car at the airport and took the city bus back to the pier. Worked out fine. ;)
