judyfssw Posted July 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2004 We're going on the Infinity very soon. Is there a duty free store at the terminal where you board?
Cruisin MarcnFran Posted July 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2004 We went on the Infinity last month. Don't recall seeing one.
sivia Posted July 15, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Check out http://www.canadaplace.ca If the info isn't there you will be able to contact someone via e-mail and ask them if there is in fact a duty free store there. Even if there is, I cannot imagine Canadian duty free prices being better than what you can purchase items for in the States. When we went to Alaska over five years ago I don't recall seeing a duty free shop there. However, things may have changed by now. Be sure that you are in fact leaving from Canada Place.....there are two piers in Vancouver. When we returned from Hawaii last year, we were supposed to sail into Vancouver at Canada Place, however, we ended up being piered at the other dock.....certainly no where near as attractive. Have fun in any case.
Rare Cruise Junky Posted July 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2004 I don't believe there is one down there. And Infinity does leave from Canada Place..or at least it's scheduled to :)
travelbug11 Posted July 15, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2004 There is not a duty free shop at Canada Place, but if you are flying back from the Vancouver airport, there is quite a large one after you check in for your flight.
judyfssw Posted July 16, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted July 16, 2004 Thank you all for your help. I guess that I'll visit the duty free store at the airport then. But, I'll look for a store to buy some pop downtown. Thanks again.
Rare Cruise Junky Posted July 16, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2004 Hi - I haven't cruised Celebrity YET :) but don't they have a Duty Free Shop on board? if they're anything like RCI and Princess their prices are amazing. Vancouver Airport Duty Free prices suck.
MattInFLL Posted July 16, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2004 A liter of Absolut is usually $18 Canadian at the airport DFS. With the exchange rate, that's not bad, and still way less than the states... but on the ship, that liter will be $10. So prices are better onboard.
