Famous people spotted as cruise passengers

On my very first cruise on the Emerald Seas I met Johnny Weismuller and Kay Stevens. They were filming a movie aboard ship which was quite a challange because a hurricane had just blown through and the seas were very rough. I saw the movie when it came out and it was probably the worst movie I have ever seen.

Wow, it must have been bad, it didn't even make it to the IMDB!! :)

In 1986 (I was in 8th grade) I met Alice Cooper (from Alice in Chains minus the makeup) in Epcot Centers Mexico. I didn't have a clue who he was but mom did! I got my picture taken and his tshirt had a funny saying.... "Guide dogs for the spiritually blind".

Alice Cooper was never in Alice in Chains. Alice in Chains is grunge band, whereas Alice Cooper was/is a singer who had wild and macabre stage antics back in the 1970's.:)

On our Carnival cruise last December, Mandy Moore was on the ship and even participated in the kids program that they did on the next to the last day. My 9 yr old at the time, said that she was very nice. I don't remember seeing her any other time though. Not sure where she was hiding if she was.

On our Navigator cruise in 2004 the entertainment was Mickey Dolenz (The Monkees) and his sister Coco. It was the 100th voyage of the ship. They put on one energetic show! I spoke to them after the show, but I got the impression that if you weren't buying the cassette of their music, they weren't interested in making small talk.

I guess, I am a freak. I see celebrities in public and I feel bad for them. I would never go and bother them for an autograph or force a conversation from them because I was a fan even if I was a huge fan. One of the things that I hate when I go to a ballgame is to have all of the daddies sending their little monsters with new hats, balls, gloves, shirts or whatever to beg the players for an autograph. Then you see the junk on ebay. I really think the cult of personality is a sign of a lack of depth in much of the culture. My wife watches ET occassionally and I can't believe how much time they give to Anna Nicole Smith and her baby. I can't imagine a more ignorant and disgusting woman on the planet. Proving that all it takes to be famous is to have zero class and extreme physical features. I choose not to participate.

I totally agree.....I used to live in LA and I saw celebrities all the time. I got used to it and never approached them. My sister came to visit once and she ran after Paula Abdul down Rodeo Drive; gave chase to Sandra Bullock in her rental car through Brentwood and finally, harassed Brittney Murphy at the Ivy...all within a matter of 4 days. Dang, I was embarassed.

Hello

I was on the Legend of the Seas in Alaska in 1995 and that was where I met him. I thought that I would share my experience. I was in the casino playing B/J and Tommy sat down next to me took 250.00 out of his seapass. I won and was up 150 dollars and got up to leave. He asked me where I was going and I said I was up and I know when to leave.

I made some really (at the time, what I thought was) intelligent comment about him having "a lot of courage to get back on a ship after his last adventure..." He and his wife seemed to get a good laugh out of it.

After I got back to my seat, I realized what an ass I had made of myself...

No no! It was hilarious! Your comment made me laugh out loud. It was very funny. Don't worry about it. ;)

Slightly off topic, but I saw Gheorghe Mureşan, the ex-nba player, walking down Main Street at the Magic Kingdom with his family. His wife was at least 6', and their kids were both very very tall.

We were on Celebrity Infinity in Alaska four summers ago. I was having an early breakfast by myself and noticed a guy in the buffet line that looked a lot like Sparky Anderson (baseball manager). He turned around and I noticed that he had on a Detroit Tigers T-shirt. Yep, it was Sparky. He was by himself that morning so I invited him to sit with me. Had a great conversation with him that I will always remember. He was on the cruise with family, including his grand-daughter. A real nice guy.

I largely aggree, but under certain circumstances it can be done with dignity and respect and on certain occasions, even the biggest celebrity can even be appreciative. I got an elevator with a big city mayor once and he wasn't with anyone and not otherwise occupied. I casually mentioned, "great day to be in NY" and smiled. I past another celebrity who was dining in a restaurant, with another person who was ordering, and gave just a nod of the head and smile, which was returned.

Once in a while I think it would be fun to bump into some obvious celebrity and strike up a friendly non-specific conversation... then a few minutes into it, say something like "so what do you do for a living?" :D Give them a chance to feel like a normal person for a change.

I've actually met a lot of celebrities over the years. I rode in an elevator at a hotel with Leslie Nielson. We just smiled and said hello to each other. When I got to my room and turned on my TV, Police Story was playing on one of the channels, which I thought was quite a coincidence.

When I was a teenager I saw Lloyd Bridges and Gregory Peck. Both said hello to me first, and Gregory asked me if I wanted my photo taken with him. What a nice man he was and I still cherish that photo. Dustin Hoffman was sitting behind me at the Diplomat hotel where I went to see Jerry Lewis practice his show for later that evening. Jerry was very nice and gave me an autograph. Dustin gave me one too, but he was there to watch Jerry, and really didn't want to be bothered by a teenage girl. ( I loved him in The Graduate and invited him home for dinner, but he declined my offer).

My most unusual meeting happened at midnight in the Fountainblue Hotel on Miami Beach. I had been babysitting for a guest and was leaving for the night when I saw Bob Hope at the front desk. He couldn't get anyone behind the desk to wait on him. I walked on by not wanting to bother him, but kept looking back. When I saw another couple ask him for his autograph, I went back and got one as well. Then I yelled at the hotel staff, and got someone to come over and give him some service. I couldn't believe that anyone could ignore Bob Hope.

However as I posted before, the only celebrites I can remember meeting on a ship were Johnny Weissmuller and Kay Stevens.

Last year on the Radiance I was playing Black-Jack with a really nice guy who kinda looked like Santa. We were playing for a couple of hours-we winded up winning a extra large bottle of Champagne for being the loudest table. The gentlemans name I believe was Jim Icould be wrong. My wife was standing near me and said '"He looks familiar", with that his wife walked up. His wife was Paula Dean the food network cook. I didnt know her from Eve. The rest of the week we played many times at the casino together. They were both a lot of fun. It was cool.

Harry

His name is Michael:D ....Later, Jill:cool:

I have met lots on land. H & I are very involved with the rodeo here so I get to meet a lot of the entertainers. The only one I was nervous about meeting was George Strait.

If I was on a cruise with him, they'd probably throw me off at port for being a stalker.:p
