Trumpeter Posted December 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Could anyone advise what would be the best cabin/ship for a cabin for 3? (1 couple & female friend)
rt1092 Posted December 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2006 A balcony cabin works for me. When my wife and I take my mother in law along. This way she or I don't have to dress in the small bathrooms. While one is dressing the other just relaxs on the balcony.
cb at sea Posted December 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2006 On Radiance class, there is a curtain that separates the bed from the sitting room in a JS. I wouldn't go any smaller, personally! (I'm not sure I'd put more than 2 in ANY room--where's the privacy???)

I thought you were going to say: "A balcony cabin works for me. When my wife and I take my mother in law along. This way she gets on my nerves.....off she goes" :D My mind just racing tonight, 8 days till on the boat. . .
wrp96 Posted December 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2006 If you are looking for space, avoid the 3 person cabins on the Sovereign class or the Empress class, as those ships have much smaller cabins than the rest of the fleet.
Arizona Cruz Chic Posted December 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2006 3 in a cabin will be tight. ;) I vote for the JS. I did it with my sister and a GF, Navigator D 2 cabin. It really wasn't a problem for us, plenty of storage and you know how we girls like to pack! If there is a fold out couch in say an E or D category cabin, the couch will take up all the floor space when folded out, making it difficult to get to the potty in the middle of the night. A standard inside or OV triple will most likely have an upper pullman. A balcony cabin on any kind will give you an added space, so someone can be out on the balcony while the another gets ready. Sharing the bathroom will be a challenge. With that said, use the spa showers and bathrooms if needed. Last but not least....its a cruise, not living together forever. One week is doable! Your cabin will be used mostly sleeping, showering, dressing ect. Godd luck and have fun planning. ***
Trumpeter Posted December 22, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted December 22, 2006 Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I'm going to go with a JS at minimum, perhaps a GS for the larger bathroom with double sinks for the ladies ;)
laginog Posted December 22, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2006 My husband and I often cruise with my Mom since my Dad passed away. Since it's too much for her to pay the Single Supplement for her own cabin, we share a cabin. But...we never go smaller than a JS....to have a "little" privacy anyway for both of them. Usually there's a curtain in between the bed and sofa sleeper. The regular Balcony cabins sometimes just have the overhead bunk over the bed....and no sofa sleeper. Just our opinion though!! BaMARox1991 Posted December 22, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 22, 2006 I would go with either a balcony or Junior Suite on either Radiance or Voyager class ships. For me, it would be voyager class, but all of them are great. We've done three in an inside before, very tight, but we had plenty of room in the balcony. ckrobyn Posted December 22, 2006 #10 Share Posted December 22, 2006 My vote is for the JS :) We tried a GS on our AOS cruise and decided while the space was nice - the JS works just fine for 3 people....better on the pocket book too!
Trumpeter Posted January 2, 2007 Author #11 Share Posted January 2, 2007 Thanks for the advice.... I ended up going with a Celebrity ship, Mercury, for this trip (Alaska in May). The scheduling and pricing was a little better, and I've wanted to try out Celebrity for a while anyways. I got a 'Sky Suite', which is comparible to a JS but with a much larger balcony.
