Melissa,

Ship casinos are not open while cruising Hawaiian waters because Hawaii does not allow gambling on land and in its waters. So whoever told you the casino was closed until an hour after their ship left the last Hawaiian port was right. FYI, the three Norwegian Cruise Line America ships (Pride of Aloha, Pride of Hawaii and Pride of America) which are based in Hawaii and have U.S. crews, don't even have casinos.

We've been on 3 Celebrity cruises in the Islands in the last three years, two on Infinity and one on Summit, and I can assure you the casino was open when the ship was not in port. It depends on the registration of the ship and whether they stop at a foreign port. Celebrity ship's casinos are open.

Melissa,

Looks like the reply’s are still mixed. 1 yes, 1 no and 1 as far as I remember, the casinos were open. If I were you I would call your travel agent or contact Celebrity.

We hope to meet you on the ship.

Ditto

and as a side note....i was either putting my coins in a slot machine in the casino or a urinal in the mens room, pretty sure it was the casino.

On the Island Princess, the casino is closed for the duration of the time in Hawaii. Meaning, no casino for about 4-5 days. I've done this trip 2x on the Island Princess and will do it again on the Infinity next April. With so many sea days on this itinerary, I'm sure there is plenty of time to get our casino "fix".

The casino was open except when in port during our recent Hawaii cruise on the Summit. I know NCL does not even have casinos on there ships that depart from Hawaii because they do not stop at a foreign port. I'm not sure why Princess does not open their casino while cruising the islands?
