fishman Posted December 31, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2006 Carnival has given us an on board credit due to a price decrease. Is this a "use it or lose it" situation, or will they credit the balance on our credit card at the end of the cruise? Also, can we utilize the on-board credit in the casino for chips? Thanks! sasha19 Posted December 31, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2006 we were told by our PVP that you have to use it... they will not credit back to the credit card... we wanted our put on our credit card to begin with and it was not an option after final payment. Atleast that is the experience that we have had... I would be interested if anyone has gotten this credited at the end of the cruise although I am sure that we will go through all the credit anyways :-)
mac4cruise Posted December 31, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2006 The credit is applied to your on board account, which is used to make all your purchases while you are on board, such has tips, drinks, excursions
cruisinbuddy Posted December 31, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2006 Just how much did you get? I ask because you sound like you won't be able to spend that much. When you board you should have something like a negative balance. Just start spending and it will get used up. I just thought of something, if you're coming to the end of your cruise and you haven't used up the credit, get a cash advance to put you over the top and then what is left can go on the card and you can pay it off when the bill comes in. But don't be trying to this cash advance the last night of the cruise.
fishman Posted December 31, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted December 31, 2006 The credit is $110 pp for the four of us for a three day cruise. As we are not going on an excursion at our only stop (Nassau), don't drink much and aren't shoppers, spending $440 in three days is more than a stretch! How about cashing it in in the casino, is that allowed? I appreciate all the input!

yogimax Posted December 31, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 31, 2006 we were told by our PVP that you have to use it... they will not credit back to the credit card... We were on one cruise where we had the balance of our credit refunded in cash from the purser's desk. Not sure, though, if it was Carnival or RCCL. I have found that you have different answers from the cruise personnel that is why I love this board... someone here always knows that answer. :-)

If you figure it up this way, and count the gratuities coming out of it, (just a thought), 10pp per day=$120, that leaves 320 divided by 4 people= 80.00 per person to spend in 3 days. Doesn't sound too bad that way. If you divide up the 80pp per day,(80 divided by 3 days) it averages out to be a little over 26pp to spend each day. I'm sure you can manage that one, if not call me......I love to shop;) :p Hope you guys have a great time on your trip, congrats on the credit.:)

CalgonCruiser Posted January 1, 2007 #12 Share Posted January 1, 2007 You can go to the casino and take a cash advance on your Sign & Sail card. Drain your account except for your tipping, if you do put any charges on your account during your cruise, you can always pay it off in cash to the purser. Hope this helps. serene56 Posted January 1, 2007 #13 Share Posted January 1, 2007 All onboard credit is not created equal. SOme you cant use in the casino. Some is use it or lose it. You have to ask the agent if the balance of the monies is refundable if you dont use it all. Most-- if you dont use it will be given back to you in a check the last night which you can cash for free at the pursers desk. Using your sign & sail card in the casino will cost you 3%. (funship $$ state that it cant be used for tips or casino but I have used the casino and tips from that money placed on my account on each cruise)
