Zandaam - Hawaii - Irons? Hair Dryers? Safes?

Going to Hawaii for 15 days early February on the Zandaam.

Will there be ironing boards and irons available? And if not - can they be 'smuggled'? Not that I wish to break rules but we really are clothes ironers! :o

Does the room include a hairdryer?

And a safe for jewelry?

Do the slot machines in the casino take coins?

Odd lot of questions...I know...

Thank you for any assistance!

There are several self-service laundries aboard where there is an iron and board. If there weren't there are other methods to deal with wrinkles---please don't ever "smuggle" an iron against the rules.

There is a hand-held (fairly powerful) hair dryer in the cabin. The old dryers are still in the bathroom. They're good to clear off the mirror.

Every cabin has a safe. On the Zaandam they're operated by a using a card with a magnetic strip. It doesn't need to be a credit card---it can be a AAA card, library card, grocery store. You get the idea.

Can't help with the casino question, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad! :D

Have a good trip.

We cruised on Zandaam last July,,,and yes there are irons and ironing boards in the ships laundromats ...... there are hairdryers in each stateroom bath, and a safe in your closet. The slots take coins, tokens, and paper money...if fact they take a lot !!!! Have a wonderful cruise !!!

You have answers to all the other questions - the slot machines do take coins---------- BUT NOT YOUR COINS - your coins have to be exchanged for tokens. There are machines where you can insert US bills and receive tokens in return.

Good Luck!!!!!

Thanks! We have some rolled coins - probably just leave them at home?

Hahahaha - thank you for the chuckle!

So the irons and boards in the laundromats. What hours are these areas open and are they crazy busy?

Appreciate the humor and information! :)

My head is hanging in shame...rule follower that I am - I would HATE to break the rules. The Laundries will just have to work for us. Should we bring extra hangers? Are there plenty in the closets?

Thank you!!!! And Happy New Year, RuthC!

The self-service laundries are open 24/7. Sometimes they can get outrageously busy, other times there is no one around. Plan to get your ironing done well in advance of when you'll need it. Right before a formal night you can't get near the joint.

There should be enough hangers in the closets. If there aren't just ask your steward for more; he'll get them for you. Once I asked for about 25-30 more! Got 'em. ;)
