These boards are becoming unbearable to visit. I mean, even when I had

dial-up it was better than it is now!!! And now I have supposed high-speed

internet --- I sure hope they do something ASAP about this problem

or else.....:D

I just wanted to express my frustration, and now with this inane post, I'm

contributing to the problem instead of helping:o

Thanks for listening.

We should all demand a full refund and free cruise:D

Seriously, I've noticed problems for the past couple of weeks it seems. Lots of double posts, some triple and last night, a quadruple:eek:

This morning it seems to be running much better. Maybe maintainance of the new look is done and the servers can better handle the load.

I have noticed since the weekend, Sunday night to be exact that I am not able to get my home computer to find cruisecritic.com at all - but at work, no problem.

Maybe it has something to do with the new look and they have been working on it - don't know, but it is frustrating to say the least

I work odd hours and DW works from home so we are often on CC in the morning. The one consistant problem that we encounter is how the boards will slow down from heavy use, I assume, around 8 AM Monday-Friday.

Don't you people have work to do?:D

Charlie,

Oh yeah. I don't work, so I can spend many hours here and not be taking away from my employer. I have noted that several folks on our roll call for upcoming Sea Princess cruise post only in the evening (I believe from home), while others post only during the day (I believe from work).

It is a common situation, regrettably.

Jim.

I noticed the problem beginning about two weeks ago.

And yesterday, they unveiled the new look (which I love).

Coincidence?

I'd definitely say coincidence. The changes they made wouldn't have any significant impact on the board speed. If I had to make a guess, I'd guess that the issue is possibly related to the mysql database being overloaded in some manner. Especially since I don't think I've noticed the problem on the non-board portion of their site.

The software used for the board system, while in general it works pretty well, does seem to sometimes cause problems at some sites, and those problems aren't always easy to track down to fix. I don't really have enough experience with the software to give a real educated guess on the exact problem, but it wouldn't surprise me if when they figure it out, it could take a day or two of the boards being offline to fix it. (That seems to be common with most boards that need that sort of maintenence, and it always takes longer than expected.)

I'd switch back to dial up and see if that works any better.:D

We are on dial-up and when the boards started to slow down, I went into my UserCP and turned off the display options for showing signatures, Avatars and Images and what a difference for me. Much better.

My own signature has stuff in it but I'd rather be able to have the pages load faster than waiting for everyones (including mine ) bling bling to load.

Just a suggestion but you may want to switch for awhile and see if it makes a difference.
