Disembarktion...

Recommended Posts

We booked our cruise through a TA and it says we need to be off the ship by 9:30 a.m. to get transfers to the airport.Since we did not book through RCCL will they know what time we need to get off so we are called early enough to get off the ship on time?Or should we let them know the night before? Or would it just be easier to do self disembarktion? If self disembarktion would be the best,do we need to lug around are luggage for breakfast or will our room keys still work & just leave them in the room & come back for them?I hope this makes sense-LOL!Thanks a lot:)

I wouldn't use transfers for your cruise. Use a taxi. It will be cheaper and faster.

If you don´t book air through RCCL, no they won´t know about your flights and you have to let them know. The night before is definitely too late for this. Usually they ask for this sometime mid cruise. Watch out the Cruise Compass for it. It´s always announced in there.

Your room key will work on debarkation day. THough with self disembarkation you´ll be off the ship probably way before 09:30am (if everything goes well and no delays happen).

Just go to the customer service desk about 1/2 way through the cruise (they will announce when!) and tell them you have an early flight! It's not hard, and you will be off the ship in no time. (They want EVERYONE off by 10am, anyway!)

Hi Cruizin,

About midcruise you will recieve a questionair, in your cabin, that will request your travel plans for debarkation day. You will provide them with your airline, flight number and depature flight time. Your last cruise day you will recieve colored baggage tags that will identify your position in the order of debarkation. If you have an early flight (departing before noon) you will be one of the earliest to actually leave the ship, and will probably have white colored tags.

Ther will be an early breakfast in the windjammer where you can get breakfast. We usually have all our bags ready to go on debarkation day, and after having breakfast will leave our cabin about 8:00A, and go to the designated waiting area (usually determined by your baggage tag color). After the ship docks it will take an hour or so for Customs and Immigration to clear the ships paperwork. Then those that have their bags can make the self debarkation with the colored tags starting in 20 or 30 minutes. Since you have cruise ship transfers it doesn't help to take your own bags since you will have to board a bus that will not leave until that group debarks.

Knowing what is happening can really help reduce the tension while wanting to be on your way ASAP. There will be a presentation, by the cruise director, in the theater, the day before you arrive. He will give you all the information you need, and answer any questions at that time. At least one of your party should attend, just in case some unexpected events will affect the process.

We were on the Rhapsody over Thanksgiving....I booked everything through my TA, including transfers and airfare and RC knew when we had airline flights.....we disembarked at about 8:00 (second or third group to get called), got our luggage, got through customs and were sitting on our shuttle at 8:45 a.m.! Our flight didn't leave Houston until 1:00 or something like that, so we had plenty of time!! I stressed about it, kind of like you sound like you are, and it ended up being not a problem!!!!! Enjoy your cruise and don't worry about disembarkation......
