Empress of the Seas - which oceanview cabins are the largest?

Recommended Posts

My DH and I are looking at the 8 night repositioning cruise from San Juan to Norfolk on 4/20 on Empress of the Seas. As we have only sailed on two larger RCL ships in the past (Mariner and Navigator), we are apprehensive about the smaller staterooms. Does anyone know which oceanview staterooms on Empress are larger than others? There are so many categories available that it is confusing!!!!

Thanks!!!!

Hello,

Try for a "Superior Ocean View Stateroom". They are still small, but are 157 sq.ft. as opposed to 139 sq.ft for ordinary oceanview. Think they are stateroom numbers-9164,9664,8164,8664,7164,7664. Square footage according to Travel Agent Guide.

Hope this helps. We love the Empress, going on for the third time next January!

Helen

we cruised on empress twice - both times on 9th floor in JR suite cabins. they're about 190sq feet and about the size of a balcony cabin on voyager class ships. empress is a small ship and ONLY balcony cabins are on 9th floor and they sell out fast.

  • 9 years later...

Someone who recently sailed on Empress and was in 8164 shared a video of the room. This is awesome because we're in 8164 in 3 weeks and I was concerned about the layout. Its a bigger room than most, and the layout is great. Booking sites list it as a 3 person room, but you can book it for 4 (we did).

Athough this thread is from 2007, you have provided a link to a youtube video that is very interesting.

We are booked on the August 25, 2016 sailing of Empress and originally booked 9164, which has the same configuration as the cabin in the video. We had an opportunity to move to a JS and did. We originally wanted this cabin because it does seem to be just a little bit bigger than other outside cabins on Empress. As it goes, all of the cabins are small (by today's standards).

We expect to have a GREAT time.
