Almost Packed Posted April 29, 2007 #728 Share Posted April 29, 2007 How would you rate the mattress/bedding on Conquest? We were thinking of bringing a mattress pad for more comfort. We sailed the Grand Princess last year and the bed was pretty hard.:( Thoughts, advice??? Thanks, dh had back surgery a few years ago. he loved the bedding. the bedding was great imo. i think it depends on what your preference is, as i have read extremes either way. for me, it was the best sleep i have ever had! the linens were in great shape, and the mattress was perfect!! not too firm, not too soft. cah14522 Posted April 30, 2007 #729 Share Posted April 30, 2007 How would you rate the mattress/bedding on Conquest? We were thinking of bringing a mattress pad for more comfort. We sailed the Grand Princess last year and the bed was pretty hard.:( Thoughts, advice??? Thanks, We were just on the Conquest from 4/8-4/15 and I thought the beds were great. No complaints from us at all, nor from our kids who were in the adjoining room. My one son slept on the couch in the kids room, and I don't think he liked it too much, but he can sleep almost anywhere. I've read a lot of complaints about the bedding, and I don't get it - based upon our experience. We were on deck 1.
oklahoma_doug Posted April 30, 2007 #730 Share Posted April 30, 2007 Vince, what is YOUR favorite song to play? I'll be on the May 20th sailing and I can't wait! Also, does anyone know where the lifeboat drill is held on the Conquest? What I mean is do you meet in a lounge or outside on deck? We just got off of the Conquest yesterday.... ccBuddy Posted May 1, 2007 #731 Share Posted May 1, 2007 What excursion would you guys recomment for the second stop? It doesn't have to be through Carnival if it's safe. For the third, Cazumel stop I'm planning on Carnival Coral Jeep ride - anyone tried it?
Cruise-Princess Posted May 1, 2007 #732 Share Posted May 1, 2007 I think a helicopter tour would be cool. I'm thinking of doing that on one of my excursions on my cruise next year. :D

For the third, Cazumel stop I'm planning on Carnival Coral Jeep ride - anyone tried it? one of my coworkers did the jeep tour in cozumel and said it was alot of fun and would do it again. second stop? i'm guessing is grand cayman right? well, if you don't want to do the stingrays-which is probably the most popular-you can go diving. if you are not certified, you can try the beginner scuba diving. dh and i did this and it was incredible!!! keep in mind you tendor into grand cayman, and depending on the seas, you may or may not get to tendor in. i was on conquest march 18, and there were many, almost all, excursions booked through carnival cancelled because of rough water. and honestly, the water did not seem that rough, but perhaps where the locations of the snorkel trips are, it may have been. beginner scuba was awesome!!!! in cozumel, we did the playa mia beach deluxe and parasailed. it was great and i would definitely go back! 1bluess Posted May 1, 2007 #734 Share Posted May 1, 2007 We haven't received our docs, TA said we could use our Fun Pass. Is this true? I printed one. Also, are their any fishing activities that anyone might know about?

Yep, it's Grand Cayman. I'm going with my g/f and another couple and I think we will opt for a relaxing excursion. I wish ship would stop at Jamaica twice so that we can do both Sunset Beach and Dolphin excursion :) As far as Sunset Beach goes, what should I look for in order to get the right taxi? Jamaica is not the most safest place so I want to be sure. Also, how early before the ship departs should we leave the Sunset resort?
beauright Posted May 1, 2007 #740 Share Posted May 1, 2007 Does the casino have tickets or is it all cash plays? What I mean is when you cash out, does it give you a ticket? Also, has anyone ever stayed in cabin 6300? I was wondering if the bed is a king or regular? If you can help, thanks in advance.. I tried the search feature but it kept timing out on me.. dont know if this gets answered but just in case.....on the carnival ship Ive been on already, you either buy a voucher for chips at the cage or pay directly at the tables OR for slots, you can get a 'casino account' that you set up on your boarding pass card while it is in your machine in the casino...thats probably confusing! --basically, you can make a purchase using your card from the machine instead of putting actual money in...THEN you can either transfer it back to your card, leave it in your casino account, or hit cashout and get actual coins (unless the amount gets to like $400 I believe, then an employee will come give you a voucher to take to the cage when you hit cashout) ok, hope that makes sense....it is a confusing system regardless
aleahmach1 Posted May 1, 2007 #741 Share Posted May 1, 2007 What excursion would you guys recomment for the second stop? It doesn't have to be through Carnival if it's safe. For the third, Cazumel stop I'm planning on Carnival Coral Jeep ride - anyone tried it? For Grand Cayman we did Captin Marvin's Snorkel and Stingray City excursion. Not only is it longer, better one on one attention, cheaper but it is not crowded like the Carnival boats. The Carnival excursion boats were practically busting at the seams. We had two great snorkel stops and then personalized attention with the stingrays. The guides are amazing at what they do. I heard that the water was too choppy for the Carnival boats to go out because they hold so many people that their excursion got cancelled. As you can tell I highly recommend them. BRU Posted May 1, 2007 #742 Share Posted May 1, 2007 Howdy All! First-time cruiser here set to depart on the Conquest on May 6th (this weeekend)!! Couple questions: When is the best time to arrive at the dock for boarding? When time should I have my ride (family) pick us up when we return? Where is the dock? I know this is probably in my documentation, but if anyone knows offhand, I would appreciate it. Thanks all! Can't wait to depart!

I know this is probably in my documentation, but if anyone knows offhand, I would appreciate it. Thanks all! Can't wait to depart! First off have a great time! I'm green with envy, I have to wait until January! From what I understand it's best to get there early like 10am. The last time I boarded the Conquest I was getting married so I got on first. In January I'm getting there at 10am. The pier is at Avenue A and 25th street. We stay at the Ramada on Seawall and 25th so it's a short jog to the pier. When we did self-assist debarkation (highly recommend) and we were off the ship, through customs and on the road by 8am. Not all have that luck, it depends on customs and many other factors. If you have any other questions ask and I will try to help.:D
beauright Posted May 1, 2007 #744 Share Posted May 1, 2007 For those who have been recently, do they hold daily Texas Hold'em Tournaments? The guys that are going on this trip, we all love poker. Not to sure how the girls will like this idea. Can post back on here or email me at jchou@meridianoffice.com Thanks! There is usually 1 electronic 2/4 limit table.....BUT if you go to playerscruise.com (search on google but that could be playercruise.com or playerscruises.com..not sure) Anyways, they are a poker hosting company that does trips on Carnival cruises....May 6th-13th I am going and they claim to have at least 200 players to book with them (have to book with them to play usually, sometimes open to other members...but they also get a group rate which is a little cheaper)
reaibn Posted May 1, 2007 #745 Share Posted May 1, 2007 There is usually 1 electronic 2/4 limit table..... According to the nice lady at Carnival who is working with me on my Conquest cruise (I am going in September! woo!), there is a Texas Hold'em table with an actual live dealer on the Conquest. Confirmations/Denials from people who have been on this specific boat recently?
reaibn Posted May 1, 2007 #746 Share Posted May 1, 2007 If you are a "Foodie" let me know, I was just there 6 months ago and there are some really great local places to try. reaibn Posted May 1, 2007 #747 Share Posted May 1, 2007 Sorry for asking a question before reading the whole thread. Apparently just electronic hold'em. I am not really sure how I feel about that. Actually, i am. Poorly. :( I am still super jazzed about my trip, but I love me some hold em.
gigem85 Posted May 1, 2007 #748 Share Posted May 1, 2007 We were in 1049 April 15. Great room location. Loved being on the pool level. Easy to go back and forth from the room to the pool.

Looks like on my May 20th sailing they will not be having one of these poker hosting events. It will be ok, the normal table should be fine. I just want to play a couple of games...do not want to spend all my time just gambling though, seems like there is going to be tons to do.
