GLORY-OUS Cruise!!

Just returned today from the Glory on the Eastern route. It was fabulous! Embarkation went smoothly but deparkation could have been a bit better, but still okay as we were off by 8:45. We went in a day early and stayed at the Country Inn & Suites for $89. They let you leave your car for free and the shuttle is only $3 per person each way. They are only about 3/4 mile from the port and they have free breakfast. Can't say enough good things about them....very pleasant experience!

This was our second time on the Glory and we found it to be very clean and very well run. The staff was great and everytime you passed one in the hall they would smile and speak. We ate in the Emerald Dining room on the last night and I can assure you that the $30 per person is well worth it. You really need to try it if you can.

We aren't big shoppers so I can't help you with that but we did go to Megan's Bay in St Thomas and Orient Beach in St Martin....they are both gorgeous but in my opinion, of the two, Orient is the most beautiful. BUT if you are offended by partial nudity you should try another beach. I'm not into that myself, but it doesn't bother me. :o

If you have any questions let me know and I will be happy to answer them for you. I'm pretty pooped right now so I know that I have left a lot out.

My friend and I have been discussing trying the Emerald Dining room one night on our Glory cruise in October but were wondering are gratuities added to you S&S when you eat in the Emerald Dining room or do you have to add them seperately?

Thanks!

We have been on the Glory several times and have never been disappointed. So it was the ship that we decided to take the children and grandchildren on for their first cruise, which of course they loved! and are still talking about and thanking us. On the christmas cruise we had room 6483 with the wrap around deck on the back of the ship and now my DH always wants the same type of room for any additional cruise that we take. You are right the Emerald room service is fantastic and the food exceptional. Glad you had a great cruise

hey folks - ditto on what was said by gto girl - one thing about the country inn - we also stayed there and imagine how happy we were to see the ship from our room. here's a hint - i asked the front desk if we could go on the roof to take a pic of the ship - and they escorted us up there. what a bonus can't wait to see the pics on a screen larger than 1.5'.:)

Was wondering if they are back on the 8Pm 10 pm show times I was told that for a period of time the shows were 7 and 9 pm thanks for the help.

We got off the Glory on Feb. 3 and the shows were still 7 and 9. Many of us mentioned on our comment card that we prefer the standard show times as it is more enjoyable to go to the show after dinner as opposed to rushing to go before. I believe carnival will make more $ with early shows as now after dinner everyone will be looking more to the casino or clubs for entertainment.

Gratuities are actually included in the cover charge, though as was posted above, there is a line to write in extra when you are presented with the bill.

I just got off the Glory as well. I was not very pleased with the show times. I like to get ready for dinner slowly. Having to get ready an hour earlier just would not be my choice. Then sometimes the show didn't get over until 8 or after. Then you rush to the other end of the ship. Ha! RUSH! There's no way to rush. There's no direct route. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed my cruise, but there were a few (little)things that just could have been better with a little thought. I'm planning on doing my own review as well, after unpacking, laundry, mail.... the usual after cruise things.

There have been several posts about the showtimes on the Glory. Many of the future Glory cruisers (me included) have emailed and snail mailed Carnival asking that the showtimes be changed back to 8 & 10. According to another poster, it is going to take past cruisers complaining about the showtimes to cause a change.

So any past Glory cruisers that did not like the showtimes, please email Carnival and voice your concerns.

I personally choose the late seating, so I don't have to rush after port to get ready for dinner.

Just off Glory ourselves, had a wonderful time. We stayed Friday night at the La Quinta Coco Beach, great hotel they had shuttle service, but we didn't use it easier for us to park at the port. Emerald Room EXCELLENT, we ate there the night we left St. Thomas and watched the lights fade as we left the port. Charges posted to your Sail and Sign with a tip line to add, it is well worth the $30.00 cover don't miss it. Will give a more detailed review later. Ask any questions, will be glad to answer what I can. Well need to catch up on laundry-emails and regular mail.

I think they have a Country Inn & Suites in Cocoa Beach also but the one we stayed was in Cape Canaveral. This one is very new and I had heard somenot so good things about the one in Cocoa Beach. Make sure you ask for the one in Cape Canaveral.

Meliss503....the shuttle started running to get on the ship about 9:30 or 10:00am. You book your time when you check into your room. When we got off the ship...the shuttle was there waiting for us so don't worry about that at all.

Yeah. Us too. We used to always do the early seating, then last year it was so full and they had a waiting list. They put a chair in the middle of the aisle for my brother. Duh. So we switched to the late and were very pleasantly surprised. Don't think we'd go back to the early unless we were forced to.

Hi thanks for the Glory info! Sounds like you enjoyed your cruises!

I am still up in the air about choosing dining time....due to the different show times on Glory. I usually prefer the later dining....I am going on Western which does have 4 ports.

I am thinking about booking the Emerald room on Carribean night, which is tuesday, Cozumel, also the fact that we sail at 7 pm that night...

will just miss the show *it is not one of the 2 "production" shows that night, tho not sure what it would be...a magician or ??

Any suggestions as to best dining times, practical info on how to handle show/dining etc are appreciated..thanks in advance
