AOS Cruise Oct. 14 Which Cabin? Help

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am just about to book Adventures of the Seas for October 14th

We are looking at a balcony cabin 8292 mid ship (I am trying to avoid rocking)

We are celebrating our honeymoon! I have a few questions, hopefully someone can help.

1. Has anyone stayed in 8292 or even on the 8th level? How's the noise?

2. Is it really better to have a balcony on the Port side?

3. Are there differences with cabin sizes? Which are the best?

4. What levels should I avoid if I want quiet in my cabin?

5. What excusions are the best? Should I book my own?

6. What time should I board the boat?

7. Best place for romantic private dinner on board?

How worried should I be about Hurricain season?

8. Is anyone else looking into this itinerary?

I'm sure I'll think of more but that's it for now

Thanks for any information you can give.

We're booked in cabin 8292 on the Explorer, so I'd love to see if any Cruise Critic members have stayed in this cabin or even in this area of the ship. Thanks!

No on the AOS we had a balcony on 10 and a PR

2. Is it really better to have a balcony on the Port side?

For us it has never mattered

3. Are there differences with cabin sizes? Which are the best?

Sorry can't help there

4. What levels should I avoid if I want quiet in my cabin?

In all our cruises we have never had a problem with noise

5. What excusions are the best? Should I book my own?

That's hard to say. Which route are you on? We usually play it by ear, or book our our. The Bob in St. Thomas is fun to do once. The Kon Tiki was so far my least favorite ever. Eli's eco tour in Antigua was awesome. Thriller Ocean tour in Barbados was pretty good. St. thomas we recently went to Coki beach and it was amazing! I didn't feel like it was the safest place for my camera though. St. Marteen....Orient beach is great. Next time we are going to go watch the planes come in on the other part of the island. St. Lucia we did a day pass to Sandals. It was fun, but not the ideal way to spend a day on a cruise. We didn't get to see much of the island. Curacao we shopped. Aruba we went to the beach and shopped.

6. What time should I board the boat?

We have always flown in the same day and got there around 2-3. This next time we are going a day early...not sure how early they let you board.

7. Best place for romantic private dinner on board?

Portifino's!!! Or order room service for the balcony. Actually Windjammer at night can be very romantic too. Nice quiet table for two by the window. With no one bugging you ;)

How worried should I be about Hurricain season?

I have never worried about it and we cruise a lot during it. We haven't had bad weather yet.

8. Is anyone else looking into this itinerary?

You will love Southern. There is something about landing in San Juan, vs. Florida. It is so warm. You immediately get into the vacation mode there.

Try to board around noon or so--you've paid for that 1st day--and boarding day IS the 1st day!!! You may as well avoid most of the crowds and start getting your money's worth!

I doubt that dinner on your balcony will be that romantic. The tables on regular balconies are small--not very comfortable! Go ahead and book Portofinos--very romantic! (Unfortunately, they won't guarantee a window seat!!)
