Feedback request - Britain Shrinkers daytrip to Paris

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience with, or knowledge of, Britain Shrinkers?

This will be our 2nd trip to London and pre-cruise we are considering a fully escorted tour to Paris which includes: hotel transfer, roundtrip Eurostar ticket, guided tour of the city highlights and River Seine cruise.

Thanks in advance!

Michelle

I know several people who have use them and been very pleased. They have been around for quite a while, and appear to have a good reputation for doing a good job.

Are you only planning to spend one day in Paris? Day return ticket on the Eurostar is only 59 pounds ($120) booked via the web. My recommendation for a day trip would be as follows:

1) Take tube from your hotel to Waterloo

2) Eurostar to Paris

3) Metro to Chalet

4) Take tourist bus to see the major sites (20 euro?)

5) Orsay Museum for art - very doable as a quick visit

6) Effiel Tower for the view

7) Batobus for the river tour from Tower to Notre Dame (5-10 euro)

8) Dinner by Notre Dame

9) Metro back to the train station

10) back to London

It's a long day, but doable...

It certainly is a long day. Personally, I always advise against a day trip to Paris if there is any possibility that you can give Paris the time that it deserves on some other trip. The reality of a day trip to Paris is that you get a lot of experience of the travel to and from Paris, and you're too tired to appreciate the destination properly. Realistically, you'd spend about eight hours of that day simply travelling from London to Paris and back again. A waste of precious holiday time; you could spend that eight hours sightseeing something worthwhile instead.
