I have a vintage 60's hard suitcase. I'll give it a work out in May on the Legend. Figure it will hold several cases of cans plus bottled water If they grab them what do I miss $20.00? I'll risk it. I hate paying for water, but $2.00 a bottle NEVER!!!

Just got an email from Uncle Boob  , he informed that effective immediately only 1 bottle of wine/champagne is allowed per person. Anything else is considered contraband and will be confiscated. These items will be piled on a skid then loaded on ship and sold by Carnival to recoup losses for those smuggled items not discovered.

He went on to say that those who leave auto-tips in place on S&S card are doing exactly what the crew prefers. If you tip above this in cash they get to keep it, however if you remove auto tips and tip in cash they must pool the money. So please do what the crew prefers. If they have too many "cheapos" remove auto-tips it looks bad folr them and they get called in on the carpet then they have to load the "contraband" on the ship to be sold.

Finally Uncle Boob said that although no where in writing does Carnival forbid jeans in the diningroom he thinks they are not allowed because they are to heavy for warm weather.:D :D :D

If you haven't noticed, there is alot of drinking going on during a cruise. Some drinkers are just amatures.

I use LiveRite as a hangover cure, not because my liver is damaged from drinking. During a cruise I drink alot more than when I am not on vacation and the product helps my liver cope with the added stresss. I am sure I am not alone.

Carnival will still make a nice profit off of me. If they "crack down" too hard, I will find another vacation venue. Carnival reps are you reading?

This whole thread is bogus.

There is NO change to the language from past years - I have all those cruise docs/contracts/etc.

KBD is just trying to stir the pot... Unless you hear from ACTUAL people who have had something confiscated from CHECKED bags? Fuggedaboutit, as Tony Soprano would say.

Actually my wife and I are not big drinkers and actually very low-keyed. Our first cruise with them was 1986 and the drinks were very cheap compared to dining out [in general] likely because of being in international waters. Our bar bill was very reasonable and we were of course very pleased. (yes there is such as thing as inflation).

Of course Carnival is in business to make money but being "reasonable" helps their reputation and our wallets. My wife likes her bottled water but at (I believe) about $3-4 per bottle is not reasonable and I see from various posts that others are not comfortable with that and have resorted to bringing their own. I also see from the first post on this thread (and other posts/threads) that people are rebelling somewhat. At the very least Carnival might want to consider adding Bottled Water to the soft drink card.

Anyone planning on carrying on sodas or putting them in your luggage since the new rule is not alocholic or non-alocholic beverages.

What new rule..have they changed their policy of allowing soda, water and wine?

The morning of the cruise, we bought a smaller suitcase at Target, along with soda, water and sancks. We used the smaller suitcase for our soda and snacks. We used a Legend luggage tag and checked it with the rest of our luggage. Then we used it as our overnight bag, so that we had everything we needed after our luggage was picked up the night before leaving the ship.

Here is what I found under the FAQ from carnvial website.

Liquor and Beverage Policy

Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages onboard. However, guests (21 years and older only) may bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room or a $14 corkage fee per bottle in the Supper Club.

Any additional quantity of wine/champagne or any alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be confiscated and discarded without compensation. Guests may purchase a variety of beverages on board the ship. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship’s gift shops or in ports of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

Starbrite it's one thing having a drink in your cabin but taking drinks to the pool etc. is really cheap. Most people who bring stuff on board also buy drinks from the ship outside their cabin. I bring it as a convenience after a day of touring or a day in the sun by relaxing on my balcony or in the cabin. I think that that is the reason most cruisers take it on board. It's not to screw the ship out of revenue but convenience.

I want to cruise with you JStarbright! We have been on a TON of Carnival cruises. We ALWAYS recruit people to come with us. My DH has left a TON of $ in their casinos. We buy drinks at the pool, at a bar before dinner, during dinner and during the night. I also do a lot of shopping in their gift shops. ;) We have never "STIFFED" Carnival. We smuggle booze because it's convenient to have it in our cabin; it is nice to have a drink while sitting on our balcony before dinner without having to hunt down a bar or order room service. I like wine spritzers. You can't buy wine spritzers on a ship for less than the amount of a glass of wine. And spritzers are 1/2 soda. And I don't drink "premium wine" either. I am very happy with my $8.99 4 L bottle of Carlo Rossi white chablis. I honestly see no reason why we shouldn't be allowed to smuggle a reasonable amount of booze to drink in our cabin. Makes us more relaxed so DH can leave his hard earned $ in the casino! :o We are very generous with our tips, always clean up after ourselves, are not chair hogs, and are very friendly and gracious to the crew and our fellow pax. We are almost a PR agent for Carnival. Anyone asking for advice about cruises, we steer them right to Carnival. We have 2 more Carnival cruises booked in the next 10 1/2 months. If Carnival takes away my bottle of wine spritzer from my checked bag, I am going to be

How set up this poll? CARNIVAL ?

Where was the option for those of us who will not cruise Carnival in the future?

All I see this poll doing is telling Carnival, and they WILL see it, that they need to increase their searches for smuggles beverages! It's no secret that the cruise lines use these boards to discover the new techniques that passengers are using to smuggle booze, and now soda and water, on board.

Everyone should vote that they will follow ALL of Carnivals rules! I know I do and will!

Fins Up!

I just called Carnival and was told that I could bring on a 24 pack of Pepsi products, no problem. I read the information posted here and she stated it is incorrect.

I also just received my ticket on Wednesday for the cruise this weekend and nothing was changed or supplemented. I will bring my "cube" with me.

Diet Pepsi or Bust!!

I hear ya! I can stomach the diet coke when I have to, and we will still be buying soda cards because it's just less hassle, but I love to have my beloved Diet Pepsi in the cabin for a treat, and in the evenings when we don't want to run out to get two teeeny weeeny glasses of soda.... :D

I think those who booked before the new rule took effect will be ok. As far as future cruises, I wouldn't trust what a call center rep would say over official documentation on their website..

I still find it curious that Carnival allows people to bring on 1 bottle of wine or champagne but not anything else.

I think that's rather discriminatory.

Not everyone drinks wine/champagne. Works for me as that's my alcohol of choice. Not much of a booze drinker.

Each person should then should be allowed to bring on some drink or nothing at all in my mind.

It says for a special occasion... if you don't want to bring a bottle of wine or champagne, they aren't forcing you... but many people celebrate special occasions and may have a special bottle... so they allow for that. I don't think they realize that people (or at lease some on these boards) are going to DIE without their mountain dew or dr pepper fix :p LMAO I don't know many that celebrate with a bottle of mt dew.

This will be our first cruise, but I was counting on having my OWN bottles of water in our cabin. I drink a lot of water in the evenings. I'd also like to get on with a bottle of rum to mix with the punch. I'm not looking to rip Carnival off -- I'd just like to have what I want when I want it. (Hence the name . . . ) LOL!

Regarding having water available in our cabin, we are packing empty water bottles.

I just called my PVP and asked him if he reads CC. He said yes but he hadn't read it in a while. I asked him if he knew of a change in the beverage policy and he said no. I told him about the change I read here on CC message board and asked him to check on it. He did and confirmed that the change HAD taken place and he thanked me for letting him know.

I think it would be very unfair for Carnival to strictly enforce this new policy so soon after it was changed. If it had not been for me frequently visiting this web site, I would not have known and neither would my PVP. The majority of cruisers do NOT read this message board so many would not know.

I will be on the Glory 5/5 Karen. You are invited for smuggler's punch on the Lido deck for castaway!

Like most of you, most of my smuggled booze is consumed on my balcony. I will only take some on deck if I plan to stay there most of the day. And of course, the first one is purchased so I can use the glass. I do not bring booze to the dining room, the shows or any of the bars. But I did not want this thread to be a debate on smuggling booze, so here is another drinking tip to hopefully get on track:

The optimun BAC for feeling good is 1.2%. There are charts available online to calculate how many drinks it will take you to reach that point based on weight, time, and sex. Or you can purchase portable breathalyzers quite cheaply on ebay. These devices are great to keep in your car to let you know if you can legally drive. If you go over the 1.2 mark you will not feel any better and run the risk of blacking out or passing out.

I had a Gerd once but it escaped from it's cage and I stepped on it by accident. :( No wait, that was a gerbil.

As far as the setup thing goes, I'm sure they put as much thought and effort into that as they are for the upcoming replacement adult area for the f-deck.

Maybe the former F-deck is where they will house the people who break said rules as "prisoners". :D
