I am glad you had a good time. Could you please tell us how was the security check and the situation with bringing in soft drinks - water and wine. We are sailing out next week and so many rumors are floating around.

thanks in advance

When we entered the security check building, the guard on duty made it pretty clear that people are not to have any OPEN liquids in the security area. She collected the bottles and disposed of them. We didn't bring anything with us, so I didn't pay too much attention to whatever else was said. I do recall seeing people bringing bottles of champagne on board without confiscation. Wish I could be of more help.

I'm not a gambler, but DH spent a lot of time in the casino. He likes poker and did quite well in the tournaments they held. The poker tables are electronic, seat ten and you play against the others seated at the table. The game moves fast since you don't have to wait for a live dealer.

They had quite an assortment of different slot machines from 2-cents on up.

In Puerto Vallarta we took a taxi (yellow/not white as recommended to save$) for $7 each way over to the Westin and used their pools and beach. It is a beautiful resort with many lagoon pools and a really nice beach area. We had gone to the Krystal and used their facilities on a previous trip. The Westin is head and shoulders above the Krystal. Clean, modern and just breathtaking. Check out their website...the pictures don't do it justice!

Mazatlan was a bit overcast and kind of chilly & windy. Last time we did a tour with Mazatlan Frank. This time we had planned to go over to Stone Island and do beach activities, but that was out for us due to the weather. We instead took an open air taxi ($10 each way) to the Golden Zone and went shopping and had lunch.

Cabo is one of my favorite places. They just don't spend enough time there! This was my third time there. We had shopped and wandered around town on a previous trip. DH had done the ATV thing with one of my sons and I went whale-watching on a previous trip. The weather was very cooperative on Friday, so this time we all took a water taxi (bargaining down from $15 per person to $5 pp round-trip) over to Medano Beach and had a great day. We played in the water, went on those banana-boat rides and had lunch at the Mango Deck. I'm already planning my next trip back to Cabo. Maybe Lovers Beach next time around!

I am planning a group cruise for me and some friends. I am not a TA. We will be going in November 2008 on the Pride. Thanks for the info. I have no idea what we will be doing so I look forward to your review.

Hi there. Just a couple of questions. We are sailing on Pride next month!

Did you stay in a balcony cabin? If so, what kind of furniture did you have on the balcony? Was there enough room to stretch out?

Did you do laundry on the ship? I've heard of a service where they give you a bag and for $15 they will do a bag of laundry for you - did they offer that?

What was the most popular formal attire for men? I am considering renting a tux on board to cut down on my packing. Did any of the men in your party rent a tux on board?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Great minds think alike! I was also wondering about that $15 laundry bag.

My DH is going to rent a tux on board, so there'll be at least one other guy in tux to be sure. He actually tried to go to our local Sears Formalwear department this morning to get measured - only to find out they don't have a formalwear department anymore.

We had a regular balcony cabin on the Pride. Stateroom 7111. It had one Andironack (sp?) type chair that lounged back, one regular run of the mill plastic patio chair and a little table. The deck wasn't big like the extended balconies are but it was plenty big for me and hubby. I LOVED taking my coffee out there in the mornings and cocktails in the evening. I have pictures of our balcony (and our room) on my Pride page. Click on the link in my signature and then click on stateroom.

Can you tell me more about the Westin. Did they let you use there pools if you purchased food and drink...? Or was it part of a package...? And is the Westin North or South of the Port...?

Any and all details would be appreciated.:)

Sorry for the intrusion, but I do have answers. At the Westin, there are orange towels laid around to use by the pool and beach. No cover charge, just plan to purchase from the bar or restaraunt to stay. There were Jet skis at the Westin. Loungers IN the pool and a swim up bar. Beds on the beach. Nice clean restroom facilities and like 5 pools all set in a tropical paradise! And if you want the cheap massage place like Krystal, they have one across the street owned bt the same folks. Westin is located towards the Walmart side. Out of the port and the Taxis will go left.

Also, Lovers Beach in CABO was beautiful! Try it next time.:)

We got upgraded from an 8A to an 8I with an extended balcony. I sailed with a standard-sized balcony in the past and they both had a small plastic adirondack chair and a regular plastic chair with a small table. I never felt constrained on the previous balcony and didn't see a huge difference with the (maybe 20") extension. You will have enough room to stretch out, but realize the balcony is glass and you will cook like a bug under a magnifying glass if you intend on laying around out there too long.

This was an incredibly casual group. It must have been the spring break thing. I could count on one hand the amount of tuxedos I saw much less the really gussied up females. People were dressed "nice" but definitely not as formal as I have witnessed on past cruises.

SunnieD was the one who originally answered my questions about the Westin before we went. I'm not comfortable going to hotels and using their facilites unless I am staying there. I'm the type that can't relax if I'm worried I'm doing something wrong and Sunnie calmed me down.

The Westin expects cruise passengers to use their facilities while you're in port. We did recognize some of our fellow passengers there as well. We took a yellow cab there and he drops you off right on the side of the place. You don't even have to walk through the hotel to get to the pools. They are right there.

We brought our own towels (from home) and parked our stuff on a couple of chairs. We got there pretty early in the morning, so food wasn't being served yet. We spent almost all of our time in the water and on the beach, so they didn't even ask us if we wanted to order anything so early. If they would have asked I would have been glad to order something. When they did start preparing lunch at the swim-up grill/bar, it looked and smelled delicious!

DH wasn't feeling well so we went back to the ship for a late lunch and remarked about how great a day we did have all for the price of ($15) cab fare.

Going there for the day made me want to go back and spend more time...just what they expect I guess!!!

Can't help you with issues on the noise level, although there could possibly be some due to the location under the cafe. The pizza and drink stations there are 24 hours. Although I probably wouldn't sweat it. The tables there are mostly booths and it is carpeted. It is not going to be as bad as if you had booked a room under the pool area and they are dragging lounge chairs around a hard deck. Been there, done that...never again!

You are however in an awesome location for access to all that great food. You can just walk up the stairs, grab a nice cold drink, some pizza or a salad and head back down and enjoy it on the privacy of your own balcony as you watch the world sail past... ahhh.:)

Hi, when I booked my room, they said they upgraded me to a guaranteed balcony. i would not get the room number until we sale. is that something bad?

it means just what it says....you are guaranteed a balcony room. Did you by any chance specify "unobstructed view" balcony? Some balconies have things like lifeboats that you have to look over to see out. I prefer an unobstructed view but it costs a bit more to guarantee that. We knew our cabin number when we got our cruise docs. It just depends....but you know for sure you have a balcony!
