gdisney Posted April 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2007 OK, maybe this is a dumb question, but if you are eating in the dining room during open seating (ie. breakfast), you won't necessarily see the same waiter as your assigned dinner table has....so is it customary to leave a tip on the table after the meal? Rare LHT28 Posted April 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Most cruiselines have tipping guidelines and some now have auto-tipping (they post gratuities to your ship board account) usually at $10. per day pp which covers wait staff & room stewards. ALL wait staff is covered in the tipping fee. Usually the dining room wait staff also serve in the buffet and/or for breakfast & lunch in the dining room on a rotating basis. If you use the auto -tip method you do not need to worry.
ddoll Posted April 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2007 No, they all get their share of tips. I would tip them only if you get some kind of exceptional service that you need to single that person out for.
tnsail Posted April 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2007 as LHT28 states, depending on cruiseline that your using your prepaid tips will cover open seating. We tip at the end of our cruise (for over and above in our opinions) for our regular dining room staff.......
Bonnie J. Posted April 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2007 If you get great service and are very happy with your waiter and or bus boy/girl see the matre'd as you leave the dining room and tell him! This will mean a LOT to the waiter and can earn him bigger tables (more tips) etc. Too many people complain about things. When you get good service this should be tol to the 'boss'!
