We are planning a late October cruise on the Veendam and would like suggestions on a place to stay on the Saturday night before the cruise. We have never sailed from Tampa before and any information will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all who respond.:D

There's a gorgeous Marriott Waterside a few blocks from the port. Hyatt, Embassy Suites, Radisson, Holiday Inn Express, Marriott Courtyard, Hilton Garden Inn also have property a 5 minute cab ride (or less) from the port.

You should plan on doing touristy things the day before your cruise. There's lots to see & do!

Wow... Am I ever glad we book our Marriott Waterside reservations months ago if those are the sorts of rates the hotels in Tampa are now charging. We have stayed several times at Marriott Waterside and very much enjoyed our stays. We're looking forward to returning.

For a long time I resisted sailing out of Tampa....there weren't any decent non-stop flights. Now we enjoy sailing from there. It's a really nice city with lots to offer.

Be advisaed that there are 2 Embassy Suites in the Tampa area. The newest one is near the port and convention center and right now they are quoting $599 per night!!!!

KK,

I think it depends on when you are staying. I just booked a post cruise night in mid November for $139.:D

TV Dad we totally agree with you, we stayed at the gorgeous Marriott Waterside in December, love it. That would be my suggestion to you nailsmhc79. Book thru some of the travel web site, and the room rate for that hotel is not so bad. Love the patio area out back along the waterway, so cool.
