Still haven't got my confirmation yet. Hopefully will get to me soon, still waiting for them to apply my credit also. I know they have lots of people to deal with so, for now I will give them a little longer and give them a call.

It took CruiseOne weeks to apply the charge to my card. I bugged them almost every week about it. I figured they do this all the time, their system should flow more smoothly/timely. Like I said in a previous post, I'm disappointed only 2 excursions with Paula. Ever since The Crocodile Hunter was killed by a stingray, I have no desire to swim with them, and you still have to pay for a meal even if you do the party boat.

Hey, has everyone reading this post who's going on this cruise registered for the Cruise Critics Meet & Mingle? If not, dig out your reservation number and click the link below.

See you soon.

Anybody ever been to Paula's restaurant, The Lady and Sons? I want so much to go, but I' never around Savannah, and I really don't want to go down just for that.

Hello,

Yes, I've been to The Lady & Sons quite a few times -- I live in Savannah. Yes, her restaurant is every bit as great as the reviews you read. When my husband needs a Fried Chicken fix, or son needs a Macaroni & Cheese fix -- we go there. Me....well, I think The Lady has the best Fried Green Tomatoes and She Crab soup! The dining experience is even more special when Paula is there chatting up her customers, posing for photos, signing autographs. She is very personable and will make you feel so welcomed!

Downtown Savannah is best seen by walking; it has a wonderful historic district to see, a quaint City Market area, and the beach is pretty nice too and not overdeveloped. A slower pace with lots of charm is what you will find here. Hope you find a chance to see for yourself and feel nothing short of enchanted by your visit!

My BIL from Marietta, drove us to Savannah for his business stop. He dropped us off at the restaurant. The gal at the door did very well at seating us out of the sun. Then I am looking around, as I do for work, and see the great looking guy that looks so darn familiar. We both had the burgers with the kitchen sink on them. I had fried sweet potatoes & my husband had the wedges. Then to hunk is delivering our food. He has such a great smile so I tell him that I am positive I know him. He shakes my hand & tells me he is Jamie Deen & I could have passed out. Then he calls mom to stop over & I really wanted to pass out. She had her grandson Jack, Jamie's son, and she calls him "my Pillsbury Doughboy". What a lucky kid! The food was SO GOOD!

I could move there in a heartbeat since we just loved it & the folks.

and got a husband too for that. She is Hollywood's best female chef with her catering company, next to Wolfgang for Oscar dinners. Just look for GLD delights. Afterall her grandfather is Oscar De Laurentis.

She cooks???? I never noticed any food, just her.:D

I thought grand dad was Dino De Laurentis the movie guy. Oscar De Larenta is a fashion guy. Either way she comes from good stock (food humor, can't get enough food humor:rolleyes: )

May even consider going back to watching the Today show now that she is there.

Just to clarify, see below, from Giada's Website.

maldemar you are right

Giada De Laurentiis has become a household name, and it's not surprising. With an impressive background of culinary training combined with a unique personable charm, she has become a globally revered celebrity chef who continues to prove her skill and accessibility not only with her expanding presence beyond Food Network but also with the great success of her cookbooks, "Everyday Italian" and "Giada's Family Dinners." A multi-faceted personality, De Laurentiis has been a spokesperson for Barilla pasta for the past two years and will forge an unprecedented alliance with the Pyrex Glassware brand, broadening the appeal of the brand to a younger generation.

With much anticipation, De Laurentiis debuted her third cookbook, "Everyday Pasta" on April 3rd. This edition features family-favorite pasta recipes as well as inventive dishes using a variety of pastas. De Laurentiis' first book, "Everyday Italian," showcases many of the delicious recipes from her cooking show of the same title on Food Network. As a follow-up to "Everyday Italian," Giada's second book entitled, "Giada's Family Dinners," quickly became a #1 New York Times best-seller. All three books are published by Random House/Clarkson Potter.

Born in Rome, Giada grew up in a large Italian family where the culture of food was a staple in and of itself. As the granddaughter of film producer Dino De Laurentiis, Giada learned how to prepare many of the family's recipes, which were often made for festive gatherings. After graduating from the University of California in Los Angeles with a degree in anthropology, Giada's passion for cooking remained. She eventually made the decision to commence a culinary career and began her professional training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, specializing in both cuisine and pastry. Following, she returned to Los Angeles, where her training included positions at the prestigious Ritz Carlton Fine Dining Room and Wolfgang Puck's Spago in Beverly Hills. She also founded GDL Foods, a catering company in Los Angeles.

I checked on the cruise with Paula Deen several months ago. I called the number to book it and the girl told me that you cannot use your Crown and Anchor status to get any discounts on the balconie or suites. I am wondering if you get credit for taking the cruise.

since you are cruising with RCCL, and should get a plat or dia discount for balcony, cruise credit, as well as OBC for VISA, onboard booking, or stockholder,as usual. What about folks on it without booking thru the company advertised doing it. They get it all.

We went on the Jewel when she was chartered last October. We didn't get the balcony discount however, we did receive the C&A credits :)

since I fill unbusy days as many other writers do. I did LV gossip for 23 years and had a ball with it. Best column was Paris opening & we were in Bellagio's suite at the corner of Flamingo & LV Blvd. Shooting the moon at Caesars from the jacuzzi. Had everyone up with the huge window. The only casino opening that LV Blvd wasn't closed. Folks just walking by & not going in, a few cars dropped folks off, to park in the back. Next day whomever wrote their column on the opening had me writing mine stating the truth & naming names of all at "The Suite in the Sky" party watching it all. Was picked up by E!. Then we walk over at 2AM to see aisles that wheelchairs could not get thru, very unruly costumes on females who were ready to pop out of their shirts, they were so small. Even photographer getting the shots to back us up. Then friends with CDI for all the implosions, movie work which I get to be extras with Jerry when we are in town. Then I got bored after Ted's death and that trial & so went Vegas. Nothing like the 80's when they knew your name, now you are a number in a machine.

Enjoy your cruise. Looks like great fun.

Macop - I read the Las Vegas Review Journal, when will your column be in there????

Ive watched her show a few times, all of the food she cooks looks very unhealthy.

I think plowing down a few JR burgers and fries would be healthier.

Too all who are cooking up her fried chicken, enjoy. I hope she does not become RCIs celebrity chef.
