Norwegian Pearl to Alaska

Hello, I'm a newbie to this site and to cruises. My family did a last minute plan to go to Alaska on the Norwegain Pearl. Normally I have more time to plan and research, but we're leaving in June and I feel completely at a loss on what to expect, what to pack, etc.

 

Read a lot on the board about things to pack (though I think I'll need a mule to carry everything!)

 

Anyone been on the Norwegain Pearl? Where can I find layout of the ship so that I can know what's where, etc?

 

Any good tips for a newbie and in need of info quickly for a new experience on a cruise?

You will want to dress warm and in layers, it can get warm so take some shorts and t-shirts, also a couple pairs of walking shoes, and a jacket/raincoat. http://www.alaskacruises.com/what_to_pack.asp

Another good resource for research is the Alaska Port of Calls board...many very knowledgeable folks there (BudgetQueen knows Alaska extremely well!!!). Also, many Alaskans post info there. You can learn a lot before June!

Try not to pack a lot. The laundry machines are free on the Pearl - just bring your detergent.

 

Don't forget to swing by the Captain's viewing station on deck 11.

 

Pack your swimsuit and a change of clothes in your carry-on as you might not get your luggage until later that evening.

 

The spa is $15 a day or $10 a day if you buy the whole cruise package. If you want to feel relaxation at its best, this is the way to do it on the Pearl. I suggest you do this embarkation day.

 

You are going to love the Pearl! HAVE FUN!!

You should check with NCL about the current arrangements.
