What do you do with the 'leather' frames?

Recommended Posts

Cherish is a strong word for something that cost them .03 cents to produce. But if you really like 'em, you are welcome to mine. As a matter of fact, you are welcome to all my useless crap. I cherish things from friends that they give me. But only to a point. If I kept everything that was ever given to me, my house would be too full of stuff. And I am not a pack rat. Pleather frames from RCI would not go with my decor at all.

I did not say I cherish the frames, but those things people have given me that might not be totally me or go with my decor as you put it...

The point is I appreciate the gesture. As many as they have to give away, what do you expect them to pay? I have also received the totes, the bag for bath stuff, the clock/calculator - which is cool but I have never used, and a logo luggage lock. I have them all, put away, but I do have them and appreciated them all.

I am sure if they did nothing then there would be some complaining about that too.

 For all those who just don't want their "useless" items given to them by Royal Caribbean, you can just send them to me. I can always use more picture frames to frame the pictures of the dear people that I have met on all my cruises. I can use the bags to pack stuff for people less fortunate than I am. I can use the alarm clocks to give away to people who are nalways late and using the excuse... "My alarm clock didn't go off". etc.

So, if you feel that you are just too good for those items from Royal Caribbean. Then send me an email and I will tell you where to send them!

Have a great day!:D

I am not complaining about getting them. I just don't like them. But I never once complained that I got something I didn't like and it should have been better. Thats not the kind of person that I am either. I would never look a gift horse in the mouth....I just won't display it.

But you are right...if they got nothing, they would complain about that too. I think I remember someone complaining that RCI did not have free dry-cleaning. People will complain about anything.

Ok, I can't take credit for this idea. We had the pleasure of sitting with NH4 and her DH on our 4/23 sailing on Majesty last week. NH4's DH came up with a great idea for the Pleather frames that takes makes them the gift that keeps on giving.

Take your tip envelope for your Asst. Waiter and your Waiter. ....wait for it..... place them inside your pleather frame. Now what you do with it next depends on whether you want to eat in the dining room or at Windjammer.

If you are eating in the dining room, put the pleather frame at your spot as you leave. If you are eating at Windjammer, go down to the dining room on the last night and put your pleather frame with tip envelopes on the table and then walk up to WJ for a wonderful buffet meal. :)

We hung 1 of ours on the wall in the den, right next to the velour Elvis painting. DW just adores it. I used the other one as a frame to hold the licence tag on the back of the trailer. All the neighbors are envious.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D Very funny!

You paying for the shipping too? Cause if I have to pay for the shipping, it makes my useless item no longer free.

I have one frame with our pic from Rhapsody on the TV... and the second frame I have on my credenza at work from Rhapsody as well. I like the frames... maybe it's because I only have two!

We personally enjoy any gift they give us. Yes, sometimes it is a worthless item (like the little radios some year's ago - but they made great gifts for niece's and nephews). The toiletry bag was great, wish they would do those again as we wore all of our's out. As for the frames, I always take one of them and put a pic from that cruise in it and have it at my desk. Make's for a slight diversion to look over and see the pic in a decent frame that has the name of ship (many co-workers like them too).

As for the comment about stopping the gifts and lowering the prices - well, lowering a cruise price six cents does not cause me excess excitement.

The thought does count and it is appreciated...being recognized is something that makes us feel good (but a few more casino coupons in our books would make us feel better) :)

I totally agree with some OPs, enough with the pleather frames already. I wish they would change the gift. I received a really nice toiletries bag on a cruise in 2005 that I love. It unrolls and has a hanger to put on the bathroom door, very practical. I hope we don't get another frame for our next cruise in Dec 07. Maybe we should ALL email RCI to let them know they NEED to change the C&A gift.

Why is it that the people with the most junk in their garage need to keep the garage door open?

We leave the stuff behind, knowing that it will be considered "junk" when we get home and neither of us like junk hanging around the house or garage. I also hate throwing things away even more, what a waste. I put it in the bedside table drawer, or the desk drawer. If the next cruiser wants it, they are welcome to it.

I've also been guilty of handing over my Meet and Mingle gift as I make my way back to my cabin after the event is over ( ). I met some nice young men who saw my stuff and got so excited about it, I couldn't help it, I knew they would appreciate it far more than I ever would :)
Just returned from Rhapsody and received 2 leather (?) frames as a C&A gift. What do all you past cruisers do with your frames? Do you actually display them? Looking for ideas!!
We toss them. They are tacky.

Hello my fellow San Antonian...I like your way of thinking! Carnival always gives you a free picture frame or portfolio if you buy the embarkation pic on the first day, so I will just add the RC one to the bunch. I have so many cruise pics stuck in a closet that it will nice to leave another photo out to remind me of my fun cruise trip. I guess some have been on so many RC cruises, they are just hoping the gift changes up more often. I can't wait to see what the lovely "pleather" thing looks like :) ha. Have a good one! GO SPURS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to try to recover them with some sort of festive material or spray them with that stone looking paint. Because I don't have an artistic bone in my body, they will probably get thrown afterwards because most of my ideas like this look much better in my head.
Really, they are THAT bad?
I thought the frames were okay. However, they have a cheap plastic overlay instead of glass (understandable) and even when you get the frames, the plastic is already scratched.
We put two pictures in them that we got from the cruise. Have them on our wall.
What trick did you use? I super glued a clip on the back of mine but it keeps falling off.
