Silverjet

I had the opportunity of meeting the senior management team of SilverJet about a year ago. They really have the experience to do it right - lots of people from British Airways and Virgin Atlantic on the their payroll.

From what I've been hearing too, SilverJet is definately a viable alternative to EOS or MaxJet as a way to cross the pond.

Maxjet is more of a business-class alternative, while Silverjet and EOS are targeting the first-class market, with EOS as the higher end of those two.

Maxjet puts 102 seats on a 757, EOS has 48 on a 757, and Silverjet puts 100 on a 767. Flat seats on Silverjet and EOS, cradle-type business seats on Maxjet.

Spend some time on the websites to get a feel for which product meets your needs and wishes. There are differences - better to know them in advance and not be disappointed in the expectations/reality showdown.

I feel significantly heartened to read your post Flyer Talker..was begininning to wonder if we had made a mistake in booking this service as there were so few posts about it yet it seemed a better deal than flying back across the pond in an economy seat with any regular airline.

What can you tell us about the baggage allowance etc etc and anything else we might find relevant...we are ordinary travellers..we do not fly on business so the opportunity to try out this upgraded service seemed a welcome opportunity.

I have not flown Silverjet, but it looks good on the website and from some reports I've read.

My suggestion is to go completely through their website www.flysilverjet.com. There is a section titled "Silver Class". Click there and read about the preflight and inflight amenities provided. You'll have 10 flight attendants for 100 passengers - a great ratio! Read the whole website and get a good feel for your upcoming experience.

silverjet does look divine. for the money, though maxjet looks like a better value. i booked a one-way JFK to Stansted for $621, which was not much more than coach. silverjet was about $1700.
As FlyerTalker says, this is not comparing like with like. Maxjet is a bit better than premium economy. Silverjet and EOS are both arguably better than British Airways and Virgin Atlantic business class.

For all flying on Maxjet, Silverjet or EOS, please post your experiences here after your trips. We'd love to get a first-hand report on how the flights and ground service went.

I'll try to keep this in mind when we fly back to Luton at the end of our TA crossing on QM2 ...we expect to fly on Aug.15th.

I've flown EOS roundtrip to Stansted and have found it to be the most comfortable of all flights taken to London. I'm 6'3" and their seats recline a full 180 degrees to a flat bed that is 6'6" and so I have room to stretch out and roll over. On other airlines with flat beds, I cann't lie flat as the bed is too short.

The food and drink have been first rate but more important than anything is that one can literally arrive at the airport less than an hour before the flight, as happened to me when i got stuck in traffice en route to Stansted and I was escorted through security and was at the gate a half hour after arriving at the airport. Even Silverjet says you only need an hour to check in.

I'll be taking Silverjet back from Luton after my QM2 crossing May 29th.

I have also booked to fly back to Luton after my QM2 crossing on August 9th.

Hi Cruiseluvva...we're not staying NY unfortunately...are you flying straight backtoo ? Reason I ask is we wondered what option there might be to do between transfer to airport and 19.30 flight take off?... we assume we'll disembark very early and then transfer so since we have never used Newark before as a sit around airport...just wondered if you knew more about any other option rather than just sit and wait ?

According to the Silverjet website, their Silver Lounge opens 3 hours before flight time. Otherwise, EWR is a typical US airport -- nothing much in the way of shopping or sightseeing.

Thanks Flyer talker..looks like Cunard might disembark us quick smart ( to allow cleaning of cabins etc) and either us offer a city tour (or similar) to put in the time before Silverjet lounge opens or just dump us at the airport to await lounge opening as many other disembarkees on transfer buses could be travelling from EWR but not necessarily on Silverjet and have earlier flight times etc etc ..they won't differentiate between who is flying on what airline..it will be a case of get them all to the airport and then they're no longer Cunard's problem.

Hi cruiseluvva...saw your post on the roll call for our cruise saying you are not returning immediately to the UK after your cruise... I should have read your post more carefully, then I would not have asked the above question here. The X roll calls have so much more activity than this Cunard one.....I am surprised that the Cunard roll call for our sailing is so sparse ?

Thank God for the info offered here!

Could just be a typo but I thought Maxjet had 767s?

From what I've seen Maxjet looks to be somewhere between premium economy and business. Silverjet seems to be right on business class with Eos going for the somewhere between business and first class. At least with the hard product.
