Smoking - Please.......

Ok I am sure I will get lots of lectures on this one! but I am cruising for the first time in September on the Conquest and sharing a room with a non-smoking friend and its and interior room, so no smoking there, I think we are not the last level of ship Riveira level and want to know where the closest smoking area is and how long you think it would take to get there?? Can you smoke in passage ways? (ok no shouting at me now please) LOL What other places can you smoke all outdoor areas I am presuming??

Thanks

:D  :)

The closest area to smoke from there would be deck 3 outside promanade starboard side. That would be two decks up from the Riviara deck. The only doors to this area are forward, so if your cabins are aft, it may be quicker and closer to go to the cigar bar (deck 4 aft).

Matily, you will have to get to an ouside deck. There is a smoking and non-smoking side - you can tell by the ashtrays on the Lido. If you get to the back of the ship, at least the wind will take your smoke away ... and perhaps you too! No smoking inside except casino, casino bar and cigar room.

It's very nice of you to be so considerate of your roomate. So, no bashing from me.

Ok looks like outside deck I will have to check it out as soon as I get on board. Wish I was going soon, but alas have to wait for hurricane season! and september..............

Thanks

Matlily, I just reread my post and realized it sounded as if I wanted you to blow away ... that was not my intent. I was just pointing out how windy the back of the ship is. No harm meant.

Have a great time. I love the Conquest.

sharing a room with a non-smoking friend and its and interior room,

How about try not smoking for 7 days :D Give it a try, if you feel like putting something in your mouth, just head up to the Grille and get a Hot Dog etc.

I guess it would pretty hard to quit because as soon as you enter the Ships Store there will be Cases of all types of cigarettes there smack in the middle of the store.

look, the reality is you are on a ship and you are close to everything at all times. you want a cigarette? get out take a walk to one of the smoking areas and have it. not a big deal.

it's not like it'll take you 1/2 hr to get there. and you certainly don't have to drive. closest smoking area? don't even worry about it. i can't imagine that light up occurring 5 seconds or 30 seconds after you close your stateroom door will cause you emotional or physical distress.;)

Aside from all the lectures you will get, we thought the Miracle at least (I know, different class) did a great job of having spaces for both smokers and non-smokers available. If you are a smoker you will not have a problem finding a designated area. Just read your capers and the signs.

Just got my RX for Chantix today and hope to be smoke-free soon!

As a smoker who really tries hard not to offend the non-smokers, I have found an Altiods tin is a handy thing to have to use as an ashstray. While ashtrays are around, there are sometimes a lot of people gathered around them (and for some reason they like to put them by doors) creating a pocket of smoke. Non-smokers who choose or have to walk through the area can sometimes get testy. Even non-smokers in smoking areas get smart remarks off. I find with the tin, I can go far away, out of the wind and hopefully avoid unpleasantness.

my first cruise my roommates were my 2 neices - at the time 14 and 15 - I of course could not smoke in the room with them - nice easy stroll up to the lido deck - I even did it in my pj's (in the nice comfy robe, courtesy of carnival) - my second cruise was with a non-smoking friend - I knew it would not be a problem for me not to smoke in the cabin with her (and she doesn't mind - but I don't think it's the right thing to do) and she was worried I would be miserable because of it - didn't bother me - but when we arrived at the ship and found out we had been upgraded and with a balcony - it really made it much easier. - But don't worry - smoking area's are easy to find - and you won't be spending alot of time in the cabin.

Wow! That was the longest sentence I have ever read. lol.;) Don't worry, you will find plenty of places to smoke. You won't have to go far.

So easily said by a non-smoker (I presume). I am willing to bet that if it were that easy to just not smoke for 7 days then 90% of smokers would just quit smoking.

Wow thanks for all the support! Hehehehe - Now just have to wait 4 months for that hot dog!!! I know its a filthy habit but its a legal one. I like the idea of PJ's on deck when's the next pajama party?

my wife and i both smoke. we have 2 teens that hate our habit we dont smoke in the cars and one room inside the house is our smoking room well ventilated. we book balcony rooms and are respectful of non smokers air space. if we could smoke anywhere on land or sea we would smoke a lot more so not being able to smoke everywhere is a good thing. we need to quit before we die or go broke or both.

LOL. fred, if you're gonna direct them to an alternate, you need to choose something less artery clogging. like, say, direct 'em to the salad bar.:D

Could try smoking a lettuce leaf LOL

Another question for everyone, we are large group but mainly couples. there are a couple of single ladies 34 and 42, where would they find similar people hanging out on board???

;)

Single people don't really hang out in one place... they will find single people all over the ship. There should be a singles mixer the first night... have them attend that... other than that, there really isn't anything geared towards just "singles"...

For those looking at Chantix... I can tell you that IMHO, it is a miracle drug... an absolute miracle!!! Best of luck to you!!!
