Ok, my turn! :-)

 

All this talk of club sandwiches, cheeseburgers, room service, Havana cigars, rum, etc, has whet my appetite!

 

What's the best in-cabin meal you had?

We like to have coffee while getting dressed in the morning. I don't trust myself with a razor until I've had a cup. We only order food if we are wanting to get off early.

We sailed on the Ryndam some years back over St. Patrick's Day. We were in a suite and decided to order our dinner served on the verandah.

 

The ship was anchored off the coast of St. Lucia. Our view from the verandah at about 9:00 PM was breathtaking. The Southern Cross rising behind the Pitons. We knew the chances of seeing the Southern Cross were 50/50. But seeing that constellation between the Pitons was far more than we ever hoped for.

 

I don't remember what we ordered for dinner, but I will be forever greatful that we had the opportunity to have room service that night.

I can't answer any of the choices.

We have had breakfast but I wouldn't call it light.

Same goes for lunch.;)

Also have ordered cheese plates and various appetizers for out on the verandah at sail-away.

I like a whole banana with my coffee, in the morning.

Sadly it’s very hard to come by whole bananas on HAL. :mad:

They chop them up, into pieces, and the pieces are in some kind of juice.

There are almost always whole bananas in our in-cabin fruit baskets.

We have room service breakfast just about every morning when cruising. On our recent cruises, I usually had only coffee and cereal....maybe some cut up fruit. DH often does the omellete, turkey bacon, toast routine.

Do they have things like cookies? On Disney we often ordered a large plate of chocolate chip cookies which were great! I hope they have a sweet something like that to nibble on.

They have the best homemade cookies at both the ice cream bar and at Java Cafe (ships other than Vista Class). Their cookies are wonderful IMO

I came really close to clicking that I would bring my own cooler with Subs, but then you would all know the truth:D In actuality I rarely eat a Sub sandwich.

Besides the cheese plate, we also order the appetizers which were great with our drinks out on the verandah as we were sailing away from different ports.

We enjoy full breakfast on the verandah every morning. However, the mornings when we are at sea are the best!

With all the cutbacks that HAL has been doing and will be doing, I hope for those who enjoy eating full breakfasts on their verandahs that HAL doesn't cut back on what is offered.

On the Zuiderdam last Oct or Nov, you could order room service dinner off the menu in the main dining room, not just the room service menu.

 

Still the case?

It was on the Zaandam in May, but you had to order within 30 minutes of the DR opening. I`m sure at that time you could specify what time you wanted it delivered....jean :cool:
