under age gambling

We just returned from a cruise on the Glory, I was really stunned to see how security in the Casino looks the other way when there are teenagers pulling the handles. We noted this several times during our cruise My brother in law also noted underage drinking. And we all wondered where the parents were when their kids were running down the halls screaming at 2am.

THOSE are the parents that are on vacation. I have also seen them checking IDs & escorting some out of the casinos.

It is legal for 18 year olds to gamble on the cruise. Could the teens have been a little older than they looked and actually been 18 and legal?

I know on our last cruise on the Miracle, they were strict in the casino. My sons girlfriend got carded and she was 22 at the time. I also saw them asking several young teens to leave when they lingered a little too long near the slot machines.

wow, we went early May so either we had hardly any kids on board or they vanished when on ship.

Never actually saw any underage person boozing or gambling! I have a pretty good eye for that too as I used to own a nightclub!

Sometimes I wonder if the underage drinking and gambling that people claim to see really is. I'm almost 23 and definitely look young for my age so someone could see me having a drink and think that I'm underage. I'm sure it happens but I also think that sometimes it's just that the person looks young for their age.

Every cruise I have been on I have seen the Casino telling the kids to leave. I have seen them check IDs They wouldn't even let them watch the card games

This has certainly been our experience - and I think it is pretty much enforced across the board.

Our DS was just 2 months away from being 18 and he was told that he had to leave even though he was not playing. He was standing behind is father and uncle - observing the process.

my husband (34) and I (32) both look very young, and we both still get ID'd almost every time when having a drink. But I don't remeber being carded on the ship ever, but maybe they knew how old when running our sign & sail card. And we have never gambled on the ship, so well have to try it on this next cruise.

We were on the Glory late March and yes my almost 17 year old was able to get into the casino and play the slots. Right after dinner the kids tend to hang out on the couches just outside the casino as a gathering place. He had no problem walking in with his friend who was 18. Imagine our surprise when we found him there ourselves.

There are just some people lucky enough to look younger than they really are! My DD and her best friend were at a high school basketball game, at the time they were both 18. A friend of mine saw the two girls there, saw me a couple of days later and asked me who my DD was babysitting the other night (when she saw them at the basketball game) I had to laugh, and so did she when I told her that the girls were the same age, only 4 days different in age. My DD's best friend looks like she is 12:eek: Believe me, when we go to the local indian casino, she is asked for her ID many times over!!

My oldest used to sneak in when he was 16/17 and play. However, this last cruise my 19 yr old was constantly asked for ID on the glory. (this past nov.)

Overall, I think they are very careful to watch for teens, but yes, some manage a few pulls on the slots.

It seems to be almost a game for them to try. But I've never seen any sitting there for more than a minute or two before security comes over and tells them to leave.

Sometimes kids will get away with it. Sometimes they will be asked to leave. I guess if you want to help out, you can find some underage gamblers or drinkers, catch security's eye, and start shouting "SWARM! SWARM!"

The older we get, the younger the young look. :(

People under 30 look like they haven't been born yet. 40's look like babies, and 50's look like teen agers. This getting old stuff ain't for sissys.

Last year I was sitting at the Black Jack table and heard a familiar voice say "mom". I turned around to see my 10 year old was standing behind me. I told her she was not allowed in the casino and she said she just wanted to ask me a question. She walking in the casino and not one person tried to stop her and not one person came over and told her to leave. Not even the dealer. And believe me she doesn't look 18.:D

kids can walk thru the casino, they just aren't allowed to stop or stay by you while you are gambling. That's when they will ask you to take your child out.

I'd be shocked too, if my 10 yr old was by herself wandering around looking for me.

I've never seen children gambling on the ship, but I have seen plenty in the casino, especially during our cruise on the Miracle where I saw one young girl (8-10) sleeping under a stool while an adult female played slots. Also frequently saw youngsters at the sitting tables in the casino. Can't say much about the attempts to keep drinking under control, it was the start of spring break so it's hard to tell the 20yo's from the 21yo's.
