The mountain has been out all day.. this lodge is incredible.. yes, a bit pricey but the view, staff etc. are better than last visit.. mainly bec. the weather is cooperating and it's in the 70s and sunny with nary a cloud in the sky.

 

Went flightseeing on spur of the moment today and it was incredible... definitely worth it even thoug we did not plan to.. Stopped at Alaska Bush Pilot Float Service about 2 miles on Talkeetna Spur Road ... no crowds today anywhere... price was less than advertised many places in Talkeetna and the scenery of the Gorge, amphitheater and glaciers not to mention the mountain (which is STILL out and visible) are not to be missed. We did not budget for this ... bec. it is so "iffy"... but all I can say is IF you are here and IF the mountain is out .. do it.. have known some to come many times and never have a day like this.. you only go 'round once, right?

 

May or may not post again.. internet is free here (no debate please ;))... tomorrow we head to Tokosha Homestead and then up to Denali for two days..

 

Oh, the Mountain High Pizza is great and if you cross stitch the Talkeetna Gifts place on right as you go into town as a great Alaska map... very inexpensive and very good and not too difficult..

Thanks for the report. I know it must have been a thrill to see the mountain out. It wasnt when I was there three years ago so I am using that as a reason to return. Hope you continue to have a great time.

Another reason to go back, every time we have been there the mountain has been hiding, glad you got to witness it.
