KRUISE KING Posted June 21, 2007 #26 Share Posted June 21, 2007 Traveling with someone is not the same as working with them. I've traveled with several co-workers...some on land....many on cruises. Truth is...you learn A LOT about someone when you travel with them. Everyone always says we're easy to travel with so they like to go with us. Some of them I would travel with again....some I won't I travel with my former boss we are very close I have been on three cruises with her i take my girlfriend and she takes her boyfriend and we usually just meet up for dinner and the casino, also Im in business for myself now and im taking all my staff on a cruise in october 26 newbies and ther spouses. i think it cool to do that ill get to know my staff and their families better. c_renee Posted June 21, 2007 #27 Share Posted June 21, 2007 If you have spent social time together in the past with your families, it should be fine. However, can you both truly relax around each other? Some times things happen outside of work that can change the working relationship. I have a friend who had a boss she really looked up to and respected. Then they went to a conference together and the boss got really drunk a couple of nights and made a fool out of herself. Now my friend has a hard time looking at the boss the same way. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with what ever you chose.
direfun2000 Posted June 21, 2007 #28 Share Posted June 21, 2007 My boss and I have a GREAT relationship. The spouses get along great also. He has heard me rave about my experience with Carnival Victory so now we are carefully broaching the subject of his family going with us on our next cruise. He is a MD and can never truly get away from his pts. and I told him that on a cruise the only way they can get to him is to book the cruise with him and I am not telling. Has anyone ever done this? I know it sounds crazy but we have been togather for 5 yrs and he has seen me at my worst ( after surgery) and at my most evil.;) Depends. Is he hot??:D

shawilson Posted June 22, 2007 #32 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I would say a big GIANT NO! We recently sailed with my best friend and her husband. It was a nightmare. I never realized that they were so self centered and snobby. If you want to do this, make it clear that you plan on doing your own thing(s). donaldsc Posted June 22, 2007 #33 Share Posted June 22, 2007 My wife is my boss, so yes I travel with the boss.:) Even better, you get to sleep with your boss. In your case, the job has real perks. DON
Corsair41 Posted June 22, 2007 #34 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Nah! My boss doesn't get why I like cruising so much. Besides, his idea of a good time has more to do with fire trucks.
osiebosie Posted June 22, 2007 #35 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I am a boss, and there are a couple of my employees I would cruise with. They are my office staff, and I'd have a great time with them. And vice versa. In fact, it'd be really fun to show them the ropes. The nice thing about a cruise ship is that you can still have alone time. We have friends (one particular couple) who are always talking about cruising with us, and I say definitely, "no". I'd go nuts. So I'd rather travel with my employees than my friends... I say go for it. You may not see each other than much on the ship anyway. Shay
