LFM Posted June 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2007 RCCL won't sell me transfers, so how do I get to the ship in Southampton from Gatwick. Is there a train website where I can make a reservation? I really need some help.
whogo Posted June 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2007 There are direct trains from Gatwick airport to Southampton. Follow the "to and from our airport" link at http://www.gatwickairport.com/ Check rail schedules at: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ .

Yes,trainline .co.uk, or try the bus ,national express.co.uk,book on line. both will get you there, and cheaper
Rare nellydean Posted June 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2007 direct trains and coaches from gatwick to s.ton the train will be faster (just over 2 hours compared to between 3hrs 15mins-3hrs-50 mins) but is more expensive, but more comfortable than sitting on a coach with crappy toilet facilities http://www.nationalrail.co.uk http://www.nationalexpress.com

Globaliser Posted June 22, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 22, 2007 direct trains and coaches from gatwick to s.ton the train will be faster (just over 2 hours compared to between 3hrs 15mins-3hrs-50 mins) but is more expensive, but more comfortable than sitting on a coach with crappy toilet facilities The only direct coaches from Gatwick to/from Southampton are in the middle of the night - and there's only one a day each way. So another vote for the train from me.
Rare insidecabin Posted June 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2007 I used the direct train for a recent transatlantic cruise into Southampton-Gatwick The train station is in the airport and no changes not much over £20pp around 2hr.
RickT Posted June 26, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2007 I'm surprised that RCCL won't sell you transfers... that being said, we are using National Express this summer. Cost is cheap and less than 2 hrs from Heathrow. Drop off point in Southampton is less than 2 km from the pier. Nice walk if the weather is good.
